David Bennett is a Professor of Neurology, Head of the Division of Clinical Neurology at the University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Oxford University Hospitals. His research and clinical interests include peripheral neuropathy, neuropathic pain and pain channelopathies. He leads major research consortia in this area including the EU initiative DOLORisk and UK research and innovation funded PAINSTORM. He is a Wellcome Investigator. He takes a broad experimental approach to understanding the pathogenesis and improving the management of neuropathic pain ranging from human genetics and ion channel biology to clinical trials. He completed neurology training in London and moved to the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Oxford in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
