Weekly Wizard News

This week at a glance:

MAD ABOUT SCIENCE (MAS) reading program is beginning this week! Why do MAS? Kids love the program because they learn cool facts about the world we live in, and they are recognized at school and rewarded for their work. Parents love the program because it increases reading and writing, as well as scientific knowledge and interest.

How does MAS work? Students will receive a bag containing 2-3 age-appropriate books and a journal. The students will have two weeks to read the books, then will choose one book (their favorite) to write about in their journal. This is meant to be a fun (non-stressful) writing activity so parents are encouraged to adjust and tailor it to their child's ability. All efforts are welcome! At the end of the two weeks, students will swap out their current bag with a new bag of books to read.

🍏Re-Stock the Staff Lounge🍏

The Teacher Appreciation Committee is restocking the staff lounge this month, and we need your help!  Let’s shower PRS's amazing staff with snacks, drinks, lounge & classroom supplies to show them how much we appreciate and care about them. The most important items have been prioritized, and the items most in need are the individual dry-erase boards. Below is the Amazon link where you can order items. They will be sent directly to the committee, which will then organize and distribute them at the end of the month. Please place your order by October 28th. Thank you!!

BOKS Volunteers and Registration

Keep an eye out for a flyer in your child's backpack to register for the awesome before-school activity program, BOKS! Kids love this program but spaces are limited. The best way to secure a spot for your child is to become a volunteer! It's not a huge commitment-- classes will run from 7:30-8:10 am two days a week for six weeks (Gr. K-2 M/W and Gr. 3-5 T/Th)

To volunteer, email Coleen Power or PRSPTOemail@gmail.com

THE PRS FALL BOOK FAIR! This hallmark fall event will be held in the gym 11/7 - 11/9 from 2:30-4:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 4-7pm on Wednesday. A MAGICAL THANK YOU to all the PRS families who so generously helped the PTO raise $25,000, exceeding our $20,000 goal for the Annual Campaign! A HUGE congratulations to the third grade who had 82% of families making a gift, giving them the lead to win the magic show at PRS (to be held on 10/31)! Everyone is a winner though because 72% of families donated to fund magical PTO programming, events, and special opportunities for our PRS students and teachers. - thank you! If you would still like to make a gift, please visit www.prspto.org

Mark your calendars: the next PTO meeting has been moved to the EVENING of Wed. November 16. Location details to come.
