Celebrating our Fall 2022 Student Curators

This semester, eight student curators or kawsay waqaychaqkuna were recognized for their work with the Kawsay Ukhunchay: Andean & Amazonian Indigenous Art & Cultural Artifacts Research Collection through the awarding of the Whitten Andean & Amazonian Studies Scholarship.

This semester's awardees are (from back to front, left to right): Tamryn McDermott, Amanda Tobin Ripley, Cameron Logar, Julia Allwein, Anais Fernandez, Shima Karimi, Victor Vimos, and Francesca Napoli (not pictured).

Among other activities, the student curators were instrumental in the installation and launch of the Dancing with Devils: Latin American Masks Traditions exhibition. Check out our full news story for more details about the curators' activities this semester.

Teaching for Change Resources

On October 1, the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian and Teaching for Change hosted an online teach-in to commemorate Indigenous Peoples' Day. Find highlights from the teach-in here, including workshop videos and curricular resources related to Indigenous Central America and Taíno heritage in the Caribbean.

Save the Date: Cambio de Colores

Mark June 7-10, 2023 on your calendar for the 21st Cambio de Colores Conference, to be held in Columbia, Missouri. The theme for 2023 is "Identidades: Intersectionalities in the Latin@ Community and Beyond."

Cambio de Colores is a multistate conference organized by the Cambio Center at the University of Missouri. It addresses the integration of Latin@s/Latinxs/Hispanics and immigrants in new destinations and serves as a professional development opportunity in which people from various fields come together to share research and best practices that facilitate the integration of newcomers.
