HEIGHTS
HEIGHTS continued their December tradition of making Gingerbread Houses. Students and parents had fun crafting colorful creations using frosting, graham crackers, and candy.
EAST HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
EAST HILLS fifth-graders participated in a fun STEM activity called Elephant Toothpaste. They mixed hydrogen peroxide and yeast in a bottle that narrows at the top, then watched as foam oozed out like a great tube of toothpaste, perfectly sized for an elephant.
HARBOR HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
HARBOR HILL Elementary School students participated in a school-wide activity centered around Todd Parr’s classic book, It’s Okay to be Different. Classes listened to or watched a read aloud, then created “It’s okay to be____” cards, which they filled in with unique answers. The cards were then turned into a beautiful display outside the cafeteria to reinforce the sentiment that it’s okay for students to be who they want to be.
ROSLYN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Family and Consumer Science students at ROSLYN MIDDLE SCHOOL put their sewing skills into practice to cut, pin, and stitch holiday projects as part of their sewing unit. Their finished creations will be wrapped and donated to the Family and Children's Association in Garden City to be gifted out to local children.
Nearly fifty Roslyn middle and high school students were invited by Federal Judge Joseph Biancoto to attend a naturalization ceremony at the Central Islip Courthouse on Friday, December 2, 2022, where over one hundred people from thirty-three countries were sworn in as citizens of the United States. Many more Roslyn students took part by watching a livestream of the ceremony from both the middle and high school.
