GGUSD Celebrates Classified School Employees Week

GGUSD has the best classified employees who go above and beyond to support the success of our district, schools and students! Thank you to our exceptional teams in Maintenance and Operations, Facilities, Food Services, Transportation, Warehouse, Information Technology, Parent and Community Outreach, health and instructional aides, all of our district and school site office staff, and many others! Our Classified school employees are the backbone of our district, providing immeasurable contributions that allow our students and staff to learn, grow and flourish!

Pacifica High School Softball Team Wins Their Second CIF-SS D1 Championship

Congratulations to the Pacifica High School softball team for winning their second CIF-SS Division 1 championship in a row by winning their rubber match with Orange Lutheran 3-0! The Mariners are THE premiere softball team in the county and state and finish as one of the best in the nation! They became the first repeat champion in nearly 20 years! This is their 9th championship and they really do put the CIF in PaCIFica!

OC Supervisor Visits Eisenhower Elementary School

Thank you to Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento for taking time to visit Eisenhower Elementary School this week. Eisenhower Elementary School is one of 8 Community Schools in GGUSD working to strengthen partnerships with community agencies and local government to ensure the school is improving student outcomes and serving as a hub of resources to families!

Los Amigos Students Recognized as the First Graduating Class of Early College Academy Program

Recently, nearly 60 students from Los Amigos High School were recognized as the first graduating class of the school's Early College Academy! These students earned up to 60 transferrable college credits from Golden West College with the majority of students earning their AA degree! These outstanding Lobos not only completed 18 dual enrollment courses, but also took a minimum of 5 Advanced Placement courses! Way to go scholars! We are so excited to see what you will accomplish next as you pursue your college and career goals on your path to lifelong success (Goal 3🔵)!

Wakeham School Hosts TK Promotion

This week, Wakeham Elementary School hosted a special event to celebrate the milestone of Transitional Kindergarten students advancing to Kindergarten. GGUSD's TK classrooms have high-quality teachers and full-time instructional aides who provide a caring environment for children to develop early literacy and kindergarten readiness skills.

Cook Elementary Hosts Sixth Grade Promotion

This week, Cook Elementary School celebrated the promotion of its sixth grade students who are well-equipped for success in intermediate school. During the special event, the school presented students with a variety of awards to recognize their academic and personal accomplishments.

GGUSD Latinos Unidos Clubs Host 7th Annual Cultural Night

Recently, our districtwide Latinos Unidos Clubs came together to host our 7th annual Cultural Night at Los Amigos High School. It was a fun evening filled with cultural performances including baile folklorico and mariachi. Students and staff enjoyed connecting to culture through music and food!


GGUSD is proud that all high schools as well as many intermediate and elementary schools have visible, active Latinos Unidos Clubs on campus that honor students' rich cultural heritage and provide them with a framework to gain academic skills (Goal 1🟡) and personal skills (Goal 2🟢) for lifelong success (Goal 3🔵).

GGUSD PTA Celebrates End of the Year

GGUSD is fortunate to have a very active Council of PTAs that provides tremendous leadership and support to our nearly 30 PTAs across the district. Recently, the end-of-the-year celebration was held and attended by PTA leaders, Board of Education President Teri Rocco, Superintendent, Dr. Gabriela Mafi and other district leaders! PTA leaders are in full swing planning wonderful end-of-year celebrations as well as preparing for the summer and school year! Thank you to our PTA leaders who work alongside us to equip all students with the academic skills (Goal 1🟡) and personal skills (Goal 2🟢) for lifelong success (Goal 3🔵).

GGUSD Celebrates May as Asian American-Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May is Asian American-Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and as part of our annual social media campaign, we will be spotlighting AAPI staff and students. We love joining with our communities to celebrate our diverse cultures and providing ALL students with safe and welcoming schools (Goal 2🟢). This highlight comes from Kawehi, the Assistant Principal at Patton Elementary School!

GGUSD Schools Host College-Signing Day Events
