Friday Morning Call for Help

Do you have some extra time this morning?

(Friday, October 14)

Join a group from 8:30 am until Noon (or so) at the church

to help move chairs in the Nave

so that new LED lighting can be installed in the ceiling.

Jeff Swoope is heading up this project.

He invites you to join in this "illuminating" activity:

On Friday morning, beginning at 8:30, we will be replacing the lights in the nave with new LED lighting. As part of this work, we will need to move chairs around to accommodate the lift we will be using to access the lights. We need some helping hands to do this. Assuming all goes well, this work usually takes around 4 to 6 hours. You don’t have to be there the entire time, but can come and leave as your time permits. We would like to have at least 2 or 3 volunteers there continuously during the work. All you have to do is show up ready to help.

And don’t worry, you can keep your feet on the ground!

Nave Nuggets

Did you know:

Our chairs were built by an Amish furniture company? Pat Pickett, chaired our Interiors Committee, who used the Church for Common Prayer booklet as the guideline for deciding on moveable chairs. “Chairs should provide maximum flexibility in arranging seating patterns to conform to various liturgical ceremonies, various sizes of congregations, and other appropriate activities.”

Over 70 gifts from parishioners were given to purchase the chairs as part of our “Please Be Seated” Chair Fund. Photo is from first worship service in the nave, 8/17/97.

Thanksgiving

for the Ministry

of Deacon

Nora Cruz-Diaz

After almost ten years of faithful servant leadership with us as deacon, the Rev'd Nora Cruz-Diaz will begin a new phase of her life as she retires from active ministry and moves to South Georgia to be closer to family. Nora's last Sunday with us will be October 30 when she will preach and we will celebrate her ministry with us. Look for more information about that celebration in upcoming issues of E-News.

As is our custom, we will be collecting a "purse" or "love offering" to give to Nora to show our appreciation for her and for her ministry with us. If you would like to contribute to this gift, please designate your gift as "Nora's Purse".

PLEASE JOIN THE BEDE COUNTERS

Have you ever wondered how the offering or other money given to the church was counted and who counted it and made the deposit? If so, you are wanted and more importantly needed to become a Bede Counter. It is a wonderful way to volunteer for St. Bede’s - one hour a month on a Monday morning at the church in a quiet space, count the money and make a deposit at the bank. You always work in a team of three, per our

guidelines.

Please contact Loretta Vail if you are interested, lvail24@gmail.com

Friend in Christ,

As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.

Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.

As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.

Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.

Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Yours faithfully,
Robert W. Radtke
