One of Edina School’s Core Beliefs is that “… students learn best when students, families, educators and the community partner to provide dynamic support and share responsibility for learning”. A return to normal operations after COVID includes a return to partnership opportunities at Normandale! Please check out these volunteer opportunities.
Your partnership with Normandale extends beyond these donations of time and talent, a main example being Edina’s French Intern Program. Between fundraising, recruiting, training and hosting this partnership spans schools, generations, and an ocean!

Another smaller, but no less impactful partnership involves you and your PTO dues. A portion of these dues allows teachers to purchase materials that enhance the classroom experience. Some examples of the tangible items our teachers want to thank you for are: manipulatives, educational games, classroom storage, classroom decorations, outdoor chalk and bubbles, bean bag filler, plants for the classroom, sketchbooks, magnatiles and individual white boards.
Normandale staff and students benefit directly from all of your partnership efforts… thank you!

2022-23 SCHOOL PICTURES
School pictures are ready to view and order online! Parents should have received an email from Jostens with information. If you did not receive an email, please login or create an account at www.jostenpix.com. If you don’t see your student’s picture once you login, use this code to locate them: FE32522. When you use the code, you will need to wait for authorization to view the pictures. An email will be sent to you once authorization has been granted and this process may take up to one business day.
Picture retake day is scheduled for TOMORROW MORNING, Thursday September 29th. If you would like your student to get picture retakes, please sign in to your Josten’s account and click ‘Sign Up For Retakes’ at the top of the page. If your student was absent on picture day, you do not need to sign up for retakes, they will automatically get their picture taken. Please remember that your student should not wear green on retake day if they are having their picture taken.
Note: Parents need to order the class composite if they would like to receive one this year.

FROM THE INTERN COMMITTEE
Continue to check back at the Intern Hub for volunteer opportunities within the intern community. Our next event is the Intern Fall Leaves event on Saturday, October 8th. We have a fun day planned for the interns to enjoy fall in the midwest, including shopping in downtown Hudson, hiking to Willow River waterfall, games, and a BBQ. We still need several volunteers to attend the event and assist with rides to and from Hudson. It is a fun day where you are able to get to know the interns (entire families welcome).

Fundraising Coupons Needed
We are looking for extra pizza fundraising coupons from various sport/fundraising efforts. We realize that these coupons often go unused. Our interns have several events throughout the year and these coupons will be put to good use!
Please note: we are not purchasing fundraising coupons. We are asking for donations of coupons that are not being used or set to expire soon.
Please bring coupons to the Normandale office. Thank you!

EVERY MEAL PARTNERSHIP
Healthy eating is very important for children. Research shows that children who eat regular, nutritious meals are more likely to attend school and be engaged in learning. As a part of this, we are excited to partner with Every Meal to offer a free weekend meal program to all our students.
Every Meal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to fight child hunger through community and school partnerships. They strive to make a difference in children’s lives by focusing on food gaps like weekends, school breaks, and summer when they can’t receive food in school.
- Free for all families
- No qualifications required
- Students enrolled in the program will receive a 4-5 pound bag of nutritious, nonperishable food each week
- Every Meal does not collect information from families; privacy is protected
- Families may choose to participate in the program anytime throughout the school year
- Families may choose from a variety of different weekend food bag options
Please sign up here. You may also contact Lisa Rapke Hoffman, School Social Worker at lisa.rapkehoffman@edinaschools.org

CHARLOTTE CABANNES - KINDERGARTEN | |
ABOUT ME: My name is Charlotte and I’m 24 years old. I come from Saint-Chamond, a town near Lyon, in France.
I am the youngest in my family. I have one brother, Florent, and one sister, Anaïs.
I like animals and especially dogs so I have a Japanese dog called H’Yumi.
During my free time I like to do exercise like horse riding, swimming, hiking, or going in a fitness center. I also like cooking, reading books or watching movies and playing board games. Moreover, I enjoy taking pictures and travelling.
IN THE US: I would like to discover wild places. I would like to go to the Grand Canyon, the Yosemite and the Yellowstone National Park.
| |
|
I would also like to visit some iconic cities like the Big Apple, Washington or Las Vegas. In New York City, I would like to do some shopping and go to Time Square by night.
I would like to take a lot of pictures to bring with me, in France, a part of the United States.I don’t really have a favorite food. Indeed, I enjoy eating sweet food and salty food. But if I have to choose some I would say eggplant, fruits, mixed salad, apple pie, lasagne.
MY FAVORITE FOOD: My favorite dish to cook is dessert like fruit pies or cakes.
I AM EXCITED ABOUT: Discovering a new country, a new culture and living in a host family! Sharing a lot of events like Halloween or Christmas with my host families and all the interns.
Working in America and improving my pedagogical practices by learning new methods, different space organization…
