MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Dear Friends,

This is THE week! The week we've been looking forward to all Advent Season. I'm sure you've been preparing too! All the shopping, baking, and cleaning, (and trying to be good for Santa!) all leads up to this week!

This week began with the beautiful sounds of our Choir and Orchestra on Sunday morning, and the joy of our kids' Nativity play on Sunday night. It was a wonderful day to prepare our hearts for Christmas.

I do hope that in the midst of all the busyness this week brings, you make plans to join us for one of our worship opportunities. See below for more details.

This week changes everything. It is a reminder that God is with us and that is GREAT NEWS!

Merry Christmas,

Ricky

CHRISTMAS SERVICE TIMES

On Christmas Eve, we will have Come and Go Communion from 3-4:30 pm in the Sanctuary. At 5:00 pm, we will have our candlelight Christmas Eve service.

On Sunday, December 25th, we will have one joint service at 11:00 am in the Worship Center. You're invited to dress festively and come celebrate the birth of Christ together while feasting on Christmas cookies!

On Sunday, January 1st, we will have one joint service at 9:00 am in the Sanctuary. I can think of no better way to begin the new year than by coming together to worship the King, while taking special time to covenant ourselves to God through Wesley's Covenant Renewal Service.

On December 25th and January 1st, kids and youth ministries' will not have Sunday school. Adult classes are welcome to meet, as the building will be open at 10-11 AM for the Sunday School hour. We encourage you to ask your individual class leaders for specific class details.

END OF YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS AND OFFICE HOURS

The church office will be closed on Friday December 23 and Monday December 26. We wish our staff a Merry Christmas, as they spend time with their families and friends. The church office will re-open at normal hours on December 27th. The church office will also be closed on Monday, January 2 in celebration of the New Year. We will re-open at normal hours on Tuesday, January 3.

Please note, all year-end contributions need to be into the church office by the end of day, December 30, at 4 p.m., or postmarked by Dec. 31st. You can also continue to give online through midnight of Dec. 31 to revive credit for 2022. Thank you for your generosity!

COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP BIBLE STUDY

Beginning on January 13, 2023, a community bible study, led by Mot Lyons and Daphne McLaurin is beginning at First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. They meet weekly on Fridays from 9:15-11:15 am. In this nine week series, they will delve into the letters of hope given to us through Revelation 1-3. They'll be using We Over Me by Whitney Capps. Each book costs $20. Please reach out to Mot at 601-842-8645 with any questions.

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

COME TO THE MANGER

Our Kids Ministry invited everyone to “Come to the Manger” this past Sunday evening. With the help of Pastor Ricky and Pastor Katie, the kids did a great job of telling the story of Jesus’ birth. The night ended with the kids performing a selection of Christmas carols under the direction of Tommy Steadman. Their musical talents were enjoyed by all who attended!

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this program a success!
