New Report Highlights the Potential for Stormwater Capture to Contribute to Resilient Colorado Water Future | |
The 2023 Colorado Water Plan estimates that by 2050 there will be a municipal and industrial water supply gap of between 250,000 and 750,000 acre-feet per year.
New Pacific Institute report in collaboration with Wright Water Engineers, Inc. and One Water Econ seeks to understand the extent to which rainwater harvesting and stormwater capture in urban areas can work to help fill this gap.

Last month, Pacific Institute Senior Researcher of Public Policy and Practice Uptake Shannon Spurlock presented in the webinar, “Establishing a Framework for Integrating Stormwater Capture into Water Supply Planning.”
The webinar informed and guided water sector professionals in evaluating the potential value and feasibility of tapping stormwater as a source of supply and navigating the complex process of working with other utilities, regulators, elected officials, and relevant stakeholders to move ideas into action.
