This Friday our Music by the Fountain outdoor concert series continues with a performance by pianist Stu Mindeman.

During July and August you are invited to join us in person in the Michigan Avenue courtyard for these Friday concerts, which begin at 12:10 p.m.

For those who prefer to enjoy our concerts online, we are not livestreaming the outdoor concerts but invite you to watch the summer 2020 performance by Stu Mindeman.
The annual School Supply Drive hosted by Women at Fourth is underway!

This year we are collecting supplies (via Amazon wish lists) for Chicago Light’s Urban Farm, Dance Academy, and Summer Day programs.

For links to the wish lists, see the Fourth Church website: www.fourthchurch.org/women/schoolsupplydrive.html or email Simon Crow for information.

You can also make a monetary contribution to be used for the purchase of school supply items (designate School Supply Drive). Gifts can be given by check or on our website: www.fourthchurch.org/give-online
Together with interfaith partners we are planning a trip to Israel, Palestine, and Jordan for next summer: June 2022.

Registration is open through this September 1, 2021, for those interested in joining us for “Peace and Compassion: A Music and Travel Seminar Trip to the Middle East,” an opportunity to share the gift of music, to learn about daily life in the Middle East, and to build community among ourselves and all we encounter.

You can register online at www.bit.ly/mideast2022

To learn more about fees, travel arrangements, and other logistics, contact John Sherer or Nanette Sawyer.
Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the Fourth Church family who were received into membership by the Session on June 20 and welcomed during worship this past Sunday, July 11.

Are you interested in becoming a member of Fourth Church? Joe Morrow, Associate Pastor for Evangelism and Community Engagement, would welcome the opportunity to get to know you!
In recent days we have shared the sixth in our series of monthly historical accounts, “Back and Fourth: 150 Seconds of History”; greetings from Derrick Dawson, Co-Program Coordinator at Chicago Regional Organizing for Antiracism (Chicago ROAR) at Crossroads Antiracism; and videos of Fourth Church memories from Pastor Emeritus John Buchanan.

If you missed any of these or the other letters, memories, and historical accounts marking our sesquicentennial year, you can find them online at www.fourthchurch.org/150
The Nominating Committee would appreciate your help identifying candidates for positions opening in 2022 for Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and Nominating Committee as well as the Chicago Lights Board.

So please take a moment in the coming days to think of Fourth Church members who have demonstrated gifts for leadership and a commitment to the life and ministry of this congregation.

Then add their names—self-nominations are welcome!—to the Leadership Candidate Form online at www.bit.ly/nominating2022.
Each Friday afternoon through the end of October the Farmstand at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm is selling a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

Your purchasing fresh produce at the Farmstand directly supports Chicago Lights job-training programs, as students and young adults gain job skills through urban farming, skills that set them up for success as they pursue fulfilling careers.

Fridays
1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm
444 W. Chicago Ave.

Guests are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing while at the Farm.

If you would like to support the work of the Farm by purchasing items needed for their summer programming, you can find their Amazon wish list online.
If you are looking for healthy ways to cope with stresses or anxiety, frustration or anger, uncertainty or grief, the staff of our Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being is also available to offer suggestions and support through phone appointments or teletherapy, whether for just a few sessions or on an ongoing basis.

To set up a time to talk or for more information about how the Center can be a resource for you, call the Center at 312.787.2729, ext. 2260.

God never intended that we struggle through life’s crises alone. For one-to-one spiritual and emotional support through difficult times, be it death, loss, illness, financial insecurity, pandemic fatigue, or other life challenges, we encourage you to consider being paired with one of our congregation’s trained and caring Stephen Ministers.

To request a match with a Stephen Minister or to learn more about this opportunity, contact David Handley, Interim Minister for Caring Ministries, or leave a confidential message for a Stephen Minister at 312.573.3365.

Additionally, if you would like to talk to a pastor, please call the church (312.787.4570) and your request will be forwarded to someone on the pastoral staff.
Death
We give thanks to God for the gift of life eternal.
