Counseling Corner

SOS Curriculum

The juniors will be completing the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Signs of Suicide (SOS) curriculum on January 17. SOS teaches students signs of depression, including suicidal thoughts, and how to respond. The main strategy we teach students is to ACT: acknowledge, care, and tell. Acknowledge there is a problem, let them know you care about them, and tell a trusted adult (over 21). We encourage parents and staff to use this same model with the "T" changing to tell a trained adult or therapist. A parent letter has been mailed home this week. If you feel your student needs any additional support our school counselors and student wellness counselors are here to help.

Campus Ministry Cues

TELOS Junior Retreat

Registration is underway for Juniors who want to attend the upcoming Telos Retreat on February 26-27. The retreat provides a wonderful opportunity to build community in the junior class. 

Students will leave BWHS at 12:30 p.m. on the Sunday and return to school by 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The retreat will be held at Maria Stein Spiritual Center and the cost is $75. Scholarships are available.

Diocese of Columbus Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund

The end of the year is quickly approaching but there is still plenty of time to both give (and receive a tax credit!) through the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund. When you give (up to $750 for an individual taxpayer or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly) your donation can be designated to Bishop Watterson to help families afford a Catholic education.

Pray With Us!

We often find an excuse not to pray. We would like to offer you an excuse to pray and a chance to come join us in prayer. Each Wednesday we have Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We begin with Exposition at 7:30 a.m. and continue through the school day until 1:30 p.m. when we have Benediction. Throughout the day, Theology classes take turns spending some time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. You are invited to join us. If you are interested, please follow this link to sign-up. If there is any change to the schedule, we will be sure to keep you informed. Thank you for your willingness to pray with us and for your example of prayer for our students.

ACT-SAT-PSAT Prep

Juniors or seniors who are testing on any of the ACT or SAT test dates, please contact Karen Gallo for any college entrance test prep needs. Individual Zoom tutoring with Mrs. Karen Gallo is offered at times that will accommodate your schedule.

All juniors will be taking the ACT on February 28 during the school day. There is no registration needed for this test .
