Snowy Start to Afterschool Program

Our afterschool programs got off to a slow start in January with all those snow days. We are so fortunate to have cozy spaces in all of our centers to read, do homework, eat dinner, and have some fun when we're stuck inside. But the weather's been amazing lately, and our kids are loving it. We've been soaking up the sun and hope you have been able to enjoy the warm weather too!

Art and Design

This semester students have been continuing on with our Kids Table: Reheated curriculum by learning all about Wayne Thiebaud, a notable figure in Pop Art whose specialty was painting delicious desserts! Students have been working hard making their own version of Thiebaud's cakes through painting and sculpture. They have even gotten to try piping "frosting" made of paint and spackling! These sculptures also function as trinket boxes to store all of our students' favorite things like stickers or fidgets!

CAN's First Community Bake-off!

Bryant Community Center hosted its very first Community Bake-off! It was such a fun (and tasty!) way to have neighbors come together. Attendees tasted goodies like chocolate chip cookies, blondies, chocolate cake bites, and bundt cakes! Congrats to all of our participants - Jessica, Deborah, Mary, and Rose!

Teen Program FUN!

A team of CAN staff have been working hard to develop a robust program meant just for our teens! One of their recent adventures was a field trip to Pinball Pete's. Teens from Hikone and Creekside came together for a fun night of games.

We can't wait for the next field trip!

It's Volunteer Appreciation Month!

To all of our dedicated, wonderful volunteers across each CAN site and program, we thank you!

We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible volunteers at CAN. From providing mentorship and enrichment to our kiddos, to operating food programs and helping beautify our communities, your dedication to CAN families embodies the spirit of compassion that fuels our mission. Thank you for your selfless contributions that make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve!
