Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us for Worship

this Sunday

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

Pastor Changsu's sermon Scripture will be:

Romans 8: 1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus

has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Here are this week's scriptures for study and meditation:

Isaiah 40:28-31 Don't you know? Haven't you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn't grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.

Ephesians 1: 1-10 God destined us to be his adopted children through Jesus Christ because of his love. This was according to his goodwill and plan and to honor his glorious grace that he has given to us freely through the Son whom he loves. We have been ransomed through his Son's blood, and we have forgiveness for our failures based on his overflowing grace, which he poured over us with wisdom and understanding. God revealed his hidden design to us, which is according to his goodwill and the plan that he intended to accomplish through his son. This is what God has planned for the climax of all times: to bring all things together in Christ, the things in heaven along with the things on earth.

John 1:29-34 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! The lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one about whom I said, 'He who comes after me is really greater than me because he existed before me.' Even then I didn't recognize him, but I came baptizing with water so that he might be made known to Israel." John testified, "I saw the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove, and it rested on him. Even I didn't recognize him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'The one on whom you see the Spirit coming down and resting is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' I have seen and testified that this one is God's Son."

Psalm 145:8-14 The Lord is merciful and compassionate, very patient and full of faithful love. The Lord is good to everyone and everything; God's compassion extends to all his handiwork! All that you have made gives thanks to you, Lord; all your faithful ones bless you! They speak of the glory of your kingdom; they talk about your power, to inform all human beings about God's power and the majestic glory of God's kingdom. Your kingdom is a kingship that lasts forever; your rule endures for all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all that he says, and faithful in all that he does. The Lord supports all who fall down, and straightens up all who are bent low.

CHURCH BUILDING MAINTENANCE

AND CLEANING HELP NEEDED

As many of you know, our wonderful church building is cleaned by a cleaning service twice a week, (usually Friday and Sunday nights.) This service does not perform maintenance repairs nor other cleaning items not covered in the contract. This provides many opportunities for persons in the congregation to help manage.

If you would like to help, please leave your name, and phone number with the office (913-631-2280), Marianne D'Amato (913-208-9875) or Roger Chalk (913-530-7353) or at a table in the Narthex and when the need arrives you may be called on to help. A brief list of projects but obviously not complete, will be at that table.
