Did you know that Wednesday, August 31st, is “Love Litigating Lawyers Day?” In October 2015, the American Bar Association Practice Council dedicated August 31st as a day for recognizing litigators for their efforts in protecting the public good and the administration of justice.

Thank you to our diverse team of family law litigators for putting forth their best efforts in court by applying available facts to laws to help resolve disputes for our clients.
We truly appreciate you!
Employee Spotlight - Kiwi Le
This month Hoover Krepelka, LLP’s employee spotlight shines on Kiwi Le, Legal Administrative Assistant. Kiwi has over 11 years of legal administrative experience and has worked in several areas of law, including criminal defense, personal injury, and employment law. Since February 2020, Kiwi has excelled in her role. Her critical thinking, problem-solving skills, speed, accuracy and keen attention to client service make her a highly valuable team member.

We took a moment to ask Kiwi what it’s like to work at HK:
Kiwi: “I’ve worked for various firms previously and HK, by far, has the most impressive team of colleagues who truly care about our clients. The company synergy is amazing and unlike anywhere else—I guess it goes with what Travis Krepelka has said all along. “Hire great people. Doesn’t matter if you have a spot open or were looking. Hire them. Get them around you.” HK’s high investment on human capital really produced a strong group cohesiveness which I have been very fortunate to be a part of since the COVID-stress test.”
Keep up the great work Kiwi! We appreciate you and all that you do to make it a great day at HK.
Alexis Mancera – Summer Intern
Our summer internship program continues! This month, we welcomed Alexis Mancera as a Summer Intern. Alexis will be entering her senior year at UC Santa Barbara as she pursues a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. Alexis is on target to be commissioned to the US Army in 2023, where she will serve as a Second Lieutenant. Alexis is interested in pursuing JAG and an eventual career in the legal field, so she was eager to jump in to assist the HK team with marketing strategy, scanning and file organization. She also had the opportunity to observe some of our attorneys in action via virtual hearings.

Thank you for spending your summer with us, Alexis! We wish you the very best in your last year at UCSB and with your journey in the military.
August 20th was “International Homeless Animals Day,” a day to spread awareness about pet overpopulation and to celebrate the work being done across the globe to rescue millions of animals. We therefore find it fitting to amplify the mission of Hopalong Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes neglected and homeless animals. Hopalong Animal Rescue also provides homeless animals with proper medical care and spay/neutering services. They also extend animal advocacy education programs to animal lovers.

Hopalong Animal Rescue is unique in offering a Pet Survivor Program (PSP), a formal arrangement between Hopalong Animal Rescue and pet owners. The program aims to ensure that surviving animals have pet guardians and advocates if their owners should pass away or become incapacitated.

We extend a nod to Wendy Chao, Law Clerk at HK for introducing us to this Bay Area non-profit. Wendy volunteers at Hopalong Animal Rescue, assisting with administrative tasks and overseeing rescue cats. Thank you for your advocacy, Wendy, and thank you to Hopalong Animal Rescue for making a positive difference for animals in need.

Would you like to extend your support? You can become a pet foster parent! As a foster parent, anyone can help these animals feel safe, loved, and nurtured. If you are unable to foster, you may extend your support by donating directly to the shelter.
