Proud Partner: Haven Harbour supports EYC's Severn Challenge

Haven Harbour Marina Resorts is a proud partner of Eastport Yacht Club's Severn River Challenge, a new event for the organization – happening Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28 – that is replacing this year's previously scheduled Santa Maria Cup.

For the event, EYC has invited local clubs to put forward teams to compete in match racing of their fleet of J22s – which will be exclusively repaired and stored by the experts at Haven Harbour Yacht Services.

For our non-sailing readers, match racing is a one-on-one event, officiated out on the water by umpires. This discipline requires evenly-matched boats – so the outcome is truly based upon sailors' knowledge of the rules and their skills in boat handling.

Clubs who have registered for the Severn River Challenge so far include two teams from EYC, two from the Annapolis Yacht Club, as well as individual entries from the Severn Sailing Association, Tred Avon Yacht Club and West River Sailing Club.

On the Radar: RHVFC's Guardian of the Pearl Rockfish Tournament

The Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company is once again hosting their Guardian of the Pearl Rockfish Tournament, a three-day event that features a two-day-long tournament, from June 8-9 – with a mandatory Captain’s Meeting happening June 7 at Haven Harbour South.

The tournament promotes Rock Hall's heritage, tourism industry and maritime activities, while also raising funds for RHVFC to continue serving ours and surrounding communities. Learn more at rockhallvfc.org.

OPEN WEEKENDS

Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South will resume weekend operation starting tomorrow, April 13. Hours of service will now be 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, as well as 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

SHRINKWRAP RECYCLING

As part of a region-wide initiative, all vessels that have requested for their shrinkwrap to be removed by Haven Harbour Yacht Services will have a $15 recycling fee charged to their commissioning order.

DIYers will need to buy the $15 recycling bag from one of our marine stores and prepare their used shrinkwrap according to MTAM guidelines. Critical to the successful recycling of boat shrinkwrap is keeping it pure and clean. All straps, zippers, doors and vents must be removed for wrap to be accepted by recyclers (watch demo). A reminder that boats larger than 35 feet may require two bags.
