Sunapee Happenings

'tis the season to deck the halls and trim the tree!

This year especially, a spirit of hope centers around the Christmas tree… the festive lights send out messages of glad tidings and decorative trimmings recall happy traditions of times past. The Christmas tree, whether in our home, out on the lawn, or on the town bandstand... this seasonal ritual offers a unifying spirit and brightens our hearts.

Andrea Bocelli’s “Oh Tannenbaum” is a perfect accompaniment to tree trimming and hall decking.

Cue The Music (locally)

Tomorrow night: Christmas music by Harvey Reid & Joyce Andersen at the Flying Goose.(Reservations required) or at the Barn Playhouse with Maddie Stephenson at the piano. FREE.

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Harvey Reid has honed his craft over the last 40 years in countless clubs, festivals, street corners, cafes, schools and concert halls across the nation. He has been called a "giant of the steel strings" and "one of the true treasures of American acoustic music." He has absorbed a vast repertoire of American contemporary and roots music and woven it into his own colorful, personal and distinctive style. You'll hear folk, country, classical, blues, ragtime, rockabilly, Celtic, bluegrass, and popular music influences. Although Reid has a vast repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs, his concert material consists mostly of his own compositions and traditional music.
