Village of Whitefish Bay Official Weekly Newsletter

Message from the Village President, Kevin Buckley

There are two exciting developments for Silver Spring to start 2023.
First, the City Market location will close, but re-open as Stone Creek + Kitchen.  Read more about their plans here.
Second, Associated Bank is considering razing their building and replacing it with a bank and a Colectivo on the corner. Their concept includes an outdoor patio and windowed balcony, which would be an excellent addition to our downtown. The Board of Appeals will consider their variance request this Tuesday.

Have a great week! -kb

Christmas Tree Pick-Up Continues:

Village crews will collect Christmas trees once a week curbside through the week of Monday, January 16, 2023.

Please place trees on the parkway, between the public sidewalk and curb.

There is no scheduled pick up date for tree collection. Please have tree(s) on the parkway by 7:00 a.m. on Mondays to ensure tree(s) are collected that week.

PLEASE BE ADVISED! Wreaths and garland with metal bracing attached should be placed inside refuse containers for pick-up. The metal bracing damages the Village wood chipper. If you have a wreath too large to fit inside the refuse container, please place the wreath next to the refuse container on the regularly scheduled day of refuse pick-up.

NSHD Health Highlights 1/4/23:

Reducing Clutter and E-Waste Recycling

Less can be more.

Are you embracing the new year by cleaning and organizing your spaces? Reducing the amount of items in our spaces (decluttering) can help improve mental and physical wellbeing.

Too many objects and items can add extra stress to our lives, make it hard to focus, and increase anxiety. For many, reducing clutter in their physical space can help their mental and/or emotional well-being. By using decision-making and problem-solving skills, a sense of confidence and self-efficacy can be created through organizing and decluttering. If time is limited, consider decluttering in blocks of 5-10 minutes.

Old electronics taking up space?

Don’t toss them in the garbage! Many electronics are made from valuable resources and materials, and by recycling them, you conserve natural resources and avoid pollution. Visit the EPA to learn more about certified electronics recyclers and donating or recycling electronic waste (e-waste).
