CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Week of December 30, 2024

In observance of the New Year holiday, there will be no planned work from Friday, December 27 to Wednesday, January 1. Construction activities will resume on Thursday, January 2.

Construction activities will take place on weekdays, Thursday, January 2 and Friday, January 3 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

WHAT TO EXPECT: You may hear noise or feel vibration related to construction activity. Large vehicles are needed on-site to facilitate work and may be seen traveling in and out of the construction area behind concrete barriers, in the center median. We encourage motorists to help take part in keeping everyone safe by obeying all construction signs.

All construction is dynamic and the schedule is weather-permitting and subject to change. Visit the Google map above (project Google map) for the most up-to-date closures scheduled and available detour routes.

ABOUT THE I-10 EB TRUCK CLIMBING LANE PROJECT

The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA), in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), is extending the eastbound (EB) truck climbing lane on Interstate 10 (I-10) from the existing EB off-ramp at Live Oak Canyon Road located in the City of Yucaipa, to just east of the existing County Line Road EB off-ramp at the Riverside County line in the City of Calimesa. The existing truck climbing lane will be extended for an additional three miles along a steep uphill portion of the I-10. The project will improve traffic operations by separating trucks and other slow-moving vehicles from faster moving passenger vehicles. This would also reduce conflicts between automobiles and slow-moving trucks, as well as reduce the frequency of truck-related accidents.
