Holiday Party 2016

Discount pricing ($40 for Club Members and one guest) for the Holiday Party ends at midnight tonight so that we can give final numbers to the venue. You can still get tickets at the door, but the price increases to $70.

The party is at Paramount Country Club in New City, on Saturday 10th December from 7:00 - 11:00. Enjoy an open bar, all you can eat dinner buffet, dancing and raffle prizes, including a 50/50 drawing.

Our monthly "Meet the Rockland Road Runners" group run comes up on Sunday 11th December at Rockland Lake. We leave at 7:30 AM from Parking Field #6 and loop the lake on the flat inner path.

Rockland Lake is the running hub of the county, so this is a great way to meet fellow runners at every level.

For those planning to run Orangetown's Santa Claus 5K, you have plenty of time to run a warm-up loop then head over to Veterans Memorial Park by 10:30.

Group Run

Snowflake 5K, December 31st

RRR's iconic finish-line arch will be raised for the last time this year over Midland Avenue in Upper Nyack for the Snowflake 5K. This family-friendly event, which benefits Nyack Community Ambulance, starts at 10:00 on Saturday December 31st. Register for the race, or the free kids run or sign up for a volunteer slot to help out before, during or after the event.

Turkey Trot 2022

The holiday season is officially here because the Rockland Road Runners 31st annual 5 Mile Turkey Trot for The Marisa Fund is in the books. Over 2500 runner/ walkers signed up for a perfect race day!

When you join the Turkey Trot your steps take us closer to a cure for pediatric cancer and help to ease the financial burden on families struggling with the high cost of cancer care - what a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving!

The Turkey Trot is a massive event and it takes an army of wonderful volunteers to make it all look so easy. RRR and Race Director Dave Goldwasser are grateful to each and every person who helped make this event so successful.

You can set your watch by this: At high noon on Thanksgiving Saturday, runners will gather on the plains of Bear Mountain to re-enact an annual ritual that’s practically stitched into the DNA of local cross country harriers. The 39th renewal of the Bill Markiewicz Memorial Rockland County Alumni Cross Country Run, held Saturday, November 26, had all the earmarks of its predecessors: Competitive races, male and female alumni of multiple generations vying on essentially the same 3-mile layout they used in high school, spectators scurrying from point to point to cheer on the participants, the mid-race monster hill that distinguishes this course from all others.

Read Jamie Kempton's write-up with all the results at the RRR website.

We enjoy a friendly rivalry with the club across the water, Rivertown Runners. They bring a big contingent to the Turkey Trot each year (pic below). RTR have invited us to join their Jingle Bell group run on Saturday 17th December along the carriage roads of the Rockefeller preserve. The run starts at 8:00 a.m. from Sleepy Hollow High School and refreshments are promised after the run.

RRR January Club Meeting

Save the date for the first club meeting of the New Year, on Monday, January 23rd at Growler and Gill. This is the annual general meeting, at which we present the 2022 RRR Club Awards.

It's Been 40-Years Running !

Rockland Road Runners was founded in 1983, which means next year will be our 40th Anniversary.

Please contact the RRR Board if you would like to be part of a planning committee to celebrate this milestone. We'll be looking to update our banners and signs, plan an outdoor event and communicate the highlights of the club's history.
