John's usual--

CLI is back in the swing of things again-- although the picture-taking has been a little spotty so far. We've been fortunate to hire 2 new staff people this month. This is very exciting because recruiting has been so hard for the past few years. After they're fully on-boarded, we'll feature them in the newsletter to introduce them.

This is a bit random, but the picture of bowling balls is because Kenilee Lanes is selling used bowling pins & bowling balls right now. People typically buy the pins for target practice. Those are priced at $30 per box of 10. Those usually sell pretty quickly. The balls are a bit tougher. Other than bowling, I'm not sure why people would want a bunch of bowling balls, but we'll entertain any offers. I've heard that pig farms sometime use the balls as barnyard toys for the pigs. If you know of anyone that might be interested in either, please give them my number (419-706-5137).

That's all I have for this week. I'm not expecting bad weather so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone all 5 days this week. We always need more pictures for this newsletter. If you send a picture to any CLI staff-- we'll get it in a newsletter.

Question of the week

Q: I heard workshop jobs pay $10.10 per hour now. Can I work at the workshop and make money?

A: Absolutely. Work at the Firelands Local's workshop is available to all CLI clients. However, the workshop is a segregated setting because it mostly employs workers with DD and because our building has been used a sheltered workshop since 1981. CLI provides paid work training at the workshop as part of our vocational programs that also include community-integrated services, such as career exploration.

If you'd like to learn more about CLI's paid work training, let your SSA know.
