2023 OCBC Sacramento Advocacy Trip
Join OCBC's Sacramento Advocacy Trip March 20-21, 2023. Led by OCBC President and CEO Jeff Ball and OCBC’s Government Affairs team—the same team that publishes OCBC’s Legislative Action Guide, Legislative Scorecard, and leads OCBC’s Government Affairs and Advocacy Committee meetings—this trip offers attendees the opportunity to share their voice when OCBC discusses policies that impact the business community and workforce of the nation’s sixth largest county. Scheduled speakers to date include Secretary of State Shirley Weber, Senate Appropriations Chair Anthony Portantino, and Senate Republican Leader Brian Jones (speakers subject to change). More speakers will be announced soon. Registration, which covers hotel, meals and materials, is open, but space is limited. The Awards recognize outstanding public agencies for implementing policies and programs that eliminate barriers to economic growth. Disneyland Resort Announces $1.5 Million in Grants to Anaheim Nonprofits and Schools
Disneyland Resort’s community workforce development initiative has given $1.5 million in grants to local nonprofits and school districts. Since its establishment five years ago, the initiative has served more than 10,000 individuals. Contributions have helped recipients grow their existing workforce programming and develop new programs to meet residents’ unique needs. The grants support long-term collaborations with organizations such as the Orange County United Way, Chrysalis, Orangewood Foundation, Avanza through Anaheim Family YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County & The Inland Empire.

City of Hope Orange County Again Named Top Workplace by OC Register
City of Hope Orange County has been recognized by The Orange County Register as a Top Workplace for the second year in a row. City of Hope recently opened City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center in Irvine, and broke ground on the county’s only specialty cancer hospital, opening in 2025. City of Hope’s network includes locations in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Irvine. City of Hope Orange County says the recognition is a testament to the work and commitment of its dedicated health care professionals.

City of Irvine Recognized for Having One of the Best Geographic Information Systems Programs in North America
The City of Irvine has been recognized as having one of the best Geographic Information System (GIS) programs in North America, according to the 2022 Geospatial Maturity Index (GMI) survey. Conducted by PSD Citywide, the City of Irvine tied for third place for organizations in the United States and Canada. Now in its fourth year, the GMI survey serves as a tool for public sector organizations. This year’s survey asked questions in three competency categories: readiness, implementation, and impact. Irvine’s GIS staff provides maps of City parks, road construction, capital improvement projects, emergency evacuation areas and have even gone out of their way to help a resident who was having trouble receiving deliveries because her home was not correctly located in Google Maps.

CalOptima Welcomes New PACE Medical Director
CalOptima has named Donna Frisch, M.D. as the new Medical Director of its Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), a program which supports Orange County’s increasing population of elderly residents. CalOptima was one of several community groups that collaborated on the 2022-2023 Orange County Community Indicators Report that outlines demographic trends impacting the nation’s sixth largest county.

CAEATFA offers financial incentives (STEs) to companies and manufacturers that promote alternative energy and advanced transportation, creating tens of thousands of high-paying, permanent jobs that bolster the state's economy.
