EMPLOYERS - You invited to meet and interview qualified candidates from across the Maryland metro area. Newcomers (with resumés) will attend and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews for jobs at all skill levels.
We are specifically looking for employers that meet the following criteria:
● National employers with 10 or more job openings/ local employers with 5 or more job openings
● Employers with a range of job openings, from entry-level to high-skilled
● Employers willing to interview and take steps toward job offers during the hiring fair [Note: We do not expect employers to necessarily offer jobs on the spot, but are seeking employers who can begin their processes of filtering candidates for employment on site]
VOLUNTEERS - The hiring fair will provide opportunities for newcomers to create or edit
resumés, connect with employers, and be interviewed on the spot.
Volunteers will help make the fair a great experience for newcomers. We need volunteers to assist in ushering, assisting with a resumes utilizing a builder-engine, monitoring the children's' play area, engaging with jobseekers and attending refreshment stations.
Volunteer Shift times:
Shift 1 (9:30–12:30 AM) and Shift 2 (12:30M–3:30 PM)
About the talent pool:
● Over 85,000 Afghan evacuees have arrived in the United States since August 2021, from a variety of professional backgrounds including interpreters, public policy experts, humanitarian workers, finance professionals, medical professionals, business managers, journalists, Manufacturing, Hospitality/Retail, Healthcare, IT/Technology, Professional/Corporate Services, Engineering, Transportation/Logistics, Aviation, NGO/Social Work, Home Care and Carpentry.
● All Afghan evacuees in the United States are fully authorized to work, fully vaccinated, and have social security numbers.
● Over 100,000 Ukrainians have arrived through the Uniting for Ukraine program in the USA as of January 2023. Most are highly educated and have diverse professional backgrounds including technology, data analysis, finance, and business development.
● All Ukrainians are eligible for the Work Authorization Card (EAD), some have already received their EAD and some are in the process.
