As April unfolds, we enter a month that holds great significance in fostering understanding, empathy, and acceptance for individuals on the autism spectrum. April marks Autism Acceptance Month, a time when communities worldwide come together to celebrate neurodiversity and advocate for inclusion and understanding.
I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the work being done by our member theatres to promote accessibility and sensory-friendly experiences. Together, we will continue to build our Accessibility Calendar, which serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking accessible and sensory-friendly theatre performances across Chicago. By providing information about performances tailored to the needs of individuals with autism and other sensory needs, you are not only opening doors to the world of theatre but also fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance within the community.
As we continue to strive for a more inclusive society, let us take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to supporting and uplifting individuals on the autism spectrum. Your efforts are making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals and families, and I am inspired by the positive impact you are having on our community.
Thank you for your continued leadership and advocacy.
