Share the Plate
Income Needn't Matter
The Social Justice Ministry team chose Hospice Austin as the recipient of Share the Plate donations in October. The nonprofit provides hospice care and palliative care in our five-county region regardless of the patients' ability to pay.
Hospice Austin provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses and for their families. Services are offered in hospitals, other care facilities and patients' homes as well as Hospice Austin's Christopher House. You can find out more at hospiceaustin.org.
You can contribute to Share the Plate during Sunday services or donate on our website. All checks and envelopes marked “Share the Plate” and half of all undesignated cash during the services will be donated to recipients. Or go to https://www.liveoakuu.org/community/donate/

Memorial Service and Luncheon
The memorial service for Live Oak member Lois Scott will be Saturday, November 5 at Live Oak. There will be a luncheon beginning at 1:00 pm, and the service will be at 2:30 pm.

Stewardship Committee Reports to the Board
The 2023 Stewardship Campaign has completed this year’s four week run. We are pleased to report that 93% of the members plus three non-members have pledged $208,780.00 to the future of Live Oak UU Church. The Stewardship Committee Report to the Board contains more specific details. If you would like to add your name to our supporters, please submit 2023 PLEDGE FORM.

Early Voting Begins
Vote early at one of these Travis County election sites.
Early voting begins October 24 and ends November 4. Here is a link to the many early voting locations in Travis County There are also 5 mega-centers that will be open for extended hours. Here is the link to Williamson County early voting locations. Be a voter this fall!

Last Vote Forward Opportunity 10/23
Will we have 500 Vote Forward letters ready to mail by October 29?
Join us after the Sunday service on October 23 to help with our final effort to get VoteForward letters ready for the national mail-in date, October 29. Bring letters you have prepared at home, or just come and help fold, stuff, and seal letters that others have prepared. Envelopes, blue pens, and stamps will be provided. All ages can help with this project. Check out their website if you'd like more information about VoteForward. See you Sunday!

Ancestor Labyrinth Walk
Sunday, October 30, 7 pm
A Family Friendly Labyrinth Walk
Join us on the labyrinth as we remember our ancestors and our beloved family, friends and pets who have died. We will tell their stories and share our memories. Bring a drum and come in costume, if you’d like. This community walk is family friendly for all persons. Please gather at the labyrinth and bring something to sit on. Join the LOUU Holiday Chorus TODAY!
The holidays are approaching and we would love your help bringing our favorite tunes to life!
Do you like to sing Christmas carols? Are you a fan of winter wonderlands? Do you have holiday cheer to spread this year? Well...
The LOUU Chorus is calling for singers of all experience levels. We would love to have you join us as we begin our preparations for the upcoming holiday season. No prior experience is required to join us, and we seek all voice parts. Children ages 12 and up are also welcome to participate.
We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Sanctuary. You can email the LOUU Music Director for more information or get started singing by joining us at any rehearsal.

Hands on Live Oak
November 6th after Faith Development time
Please stay after Faith Development to help us spruce up the buildings and grounds! The list of projects is long. We can use all the help we can get. The children & youth will be working on projects during Faith Development, but they are welcome to stay after and do more. This would be a great opportunity for some family time while showing our kiddos what it means to be part of a congregation. Lunch will be providers for the workers. Projects include: cleaning, repairs, painting and more! Email Diane at administrator@liveoakuu.org for more information or to signup.

Calling All Crafters (Elves or Not!)
Santa's elves are busy at the North Pole, and you could be busy helping Live Oak's very own Santa raise funds for Live Oak with your own handmade items. Do you do woodwork? Fiber Arts? Candles? Soap Making? Sculpting? Something even more fun that I haven't thought of? In conjunction with Selfies with Santa, Live Oak is hosting its own craft bazaar. It is a great way for us to use our creative talents and donate to LOUU. Please let Alison McPherson know if you would like to make a donation or help on the day of the event.

HELP DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS
Live Oak Church will be distributing food to our neighbors at Fresh Food for All and need volunteers to help.
This month, on Friday, October 21st, Fresh Food For All participants will be able to select their own produce (Farmer's Market style), instead of having the prepackaged produce placed in their car trunks. We will need to help fill bags, direct traffic, weigh the food, and help people carry food to their cars. If you can help anytime on October 21st between 8:30 and 11AM. Bring food and other items for Hill Country Community Ministries (HCCM), our Fresh Food for All partner, to church and leave them in the Narthex. Ted Lasso & Bowen Discussion Group
Mark your calendar! Beginning in October, Rev. Joanna will be showing episodes of Ted Lasso then leading a discussion group around the Bowen Family Systems concepts shown in the show -- things like triangulation, differentiation, etc. The group will meet in the library at 6:00pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
