Headwaters Discussion Club
Thursday, July 25
Sagebrush BBQ & Grill
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join CHLT and HTA for our quarterly discussion club meeting! While we do recommend a book to read for each meeting, the main purpose of the club is to have healthy discussions about conservation, recreation, and our lives in the mountains.

The guest partner for this meeting is the Town of Grand Lake as they are pursuing a Dark Sky certification, an international recognition of a town's commitment to preserving and protecting unpolluted night skies through responsible lighting policies and public education.
Stargazing: Conservation and the Night Sky
Saturday, August 17
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Join us for our annual educational event on conservation and the night sky! Enjoy live music, a dinner buffet, and presentations and lessons on the value of land conservation for sustaining and protecting our night skies as well as what you can do at home and in your town to reduce light pollution and encourage darker skies at night.

The Town of Grand Lake will present on their campaign for Dark Sky certification, and we will be guided through the stars by the Grand County Astronomy Club. Bring binoculars or a telescope if you would like — there will be telescopes to use courtesy of the Grand County Astronomy Club, and plenty to see with just your eyes!
SAVE THE DATES:
Saturday, Aug 31 - Plein Air @ Altitude, Fraser Arts Council
Saturday, Sept 28 - National Public Lands Day

  • Doreen Sumerlin was appointed as the Granby representative to the Open Lands, Rivers and Trails Advisory Committee. • The board approved an extension for the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust regarding a conservation easement on the Shorefox property located near Sun Communities Outdoors. Representatives from the land trust requested an extension for completion to clear up some outstanding issues.

Community News
  • The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs and The Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual community yard sale on Saturday, August 10, in Hot Sulphur Springs. Everyone is invited to come shop or sell. If you have things to sell and don’t live in Hot Sulphur Springs, you will be assigned spot in a high customer area. Last year there were over 40 yard sales and it was a great success. We advertise all over Colorado and a lot of people come from everywhere. For more information, please contact Lindsay McCann, Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce volunteer secretary and board member: (970) 531-1210
