DANCING FOR
THE SPACE COAST
SATURDAY JUNE 3, 5:30pm
FLORIDA TECH CLEMENTE CENTER
Dancing for the Space Coast is an exciting event that teams up local celebrities with dance professionals in a competition to benefit Brevard nonprofit organizations. Each competitor dedicates their time and talents taking dance lessons and also diligently raises money as part of the competition. Says Cheryl Cominsky, "We are so excited for our organization to be chosen as one of the recipients of this year's competition, and we are delighted that Jessica Assam and Robin Potter will be representing TCHP. They will be putting in a tremendous amount of effort between now and the event."

You can learn more about the individual dancers and purchase tickets here.
MEET THE DANCERS!
JESSICA ASSAM
Jessica Cartagena Assam was born in Queens, New York, to first-generation immigrants from the Dominican Republic. Though a New York native, Jessica has called Florida home since 1986 and has lived in Melbourne since 2007.

The opportunity for this dance venture could not have come at a better time as she embraces the empty-nesting chapter with her youngest daughter attending the Tisch School of the Arts in NYU and her son graduating from the University of Miami in 2024.

Jessica advocates for charities focused on addressing the needs of children, conservation, and the arts. Known for her dedicated efforts and selfless nature, she has inspired change within organizations, such as the Brevard Zoo where she served on the board for over a decade and spearheaded many fundraisers. Jessica’s community and civic engagement has prepared her for her role with Florida Tech’s Advancement Office where she partners with The Scott Center and weVENTURE on their annual fundraisers.

Outside of event planning and volunteering, Jessica enjoys spending quiet time with her Brindle Boxer Stella, traveling, and camaraderie with friends and family. Despite the Latina in her, dancing is outside her comfort zone, but she’ll do just about anything for a good cause and is grateful to have the opportunity to learn techniques from her World Champion instructor, Dr. Jang Don.
ROBIN POTTER
Robin Potter was born in Cleveland, Ohio but grew up in Indian Harbour Beach and considers Florida her home. She is a graduate of Satellite High. She pursued her passion for medicine and graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine Physician Assistant program. After practicing medicine for a number of years as a Physician Assistant, she transitioned to the Biotech industry with a focus on Hematology and Rare Bleeding Disorders. This provided opportunities to impact the lives of people living with rare conditions around the world. Robin has taken opportunities to volunteer as a medical humanitarian for missions outside the US. She is also a 13-year breast cancer survivor and has participated in multiple fund-raising events for Breast cancer awareness and treatment.

Robin is married to Joseph Hacker a retired Air Force veteran, she has one son (Ethan) and a stepdaughter (Jessica). When she is not working, she enjoys running, yoga, gardening, traveling to new places, and spending time with friends, family, and her loving husband. People close to Robin know she loves to dance and is honored to participate in this year’s event to support local charities.

Odyssey Charter School
Interact Club Fundraiser
We were presented a check from Odyssey Charter Jr/Sr Civics teacher Mr Rebman on behalf of the school's Interact Club. The club is sponsored by Palm Bay Rotary. Students baked goods and sold them at a craft fair at a senior center. It was Ms Ortiz', school founder's 70th birthday, and she chose TCHP for the proceeds of the bake sale. Pictured with the check and the President and VP of the Interact Club. The Titan Interact students planned and executed the bake sale fundraiser and it was a lesson in having a business, including marketing and sales. Many thanks to everyone who planned and participated!
