Maupin Community Christmas Tree Lighting
Sunday, December 4th 5 p.m. - Kaiser Park, Maupin

2022 is just about history, folks! It's truly been one for the books for the Maupin Area Chamber of Commerce, and for our community, as we celebrated the 100 year birthday of the town of Maupin. Help us bring a festive close to this fantastic year at our community tree lighting celebration this Sunday. Enjoy caroling, holiday treats, a few parting words from Mayor Lynn, and visit with a special guest coming all the way from the North Pole!
MACC opens in temporary location on Deschutes Ave December 12th!
We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a lease to set up our visitor center inside of the Sage Canyon Rafting building at 509 Deschutes Ave! This temporary home will last until we can move in to the MaupinWorks building in the summer of 2023. Suze will be staffing the visitors center Monday - Wednesday 10 - 4. One of our first projects is to renew our stash of brochures and business cards - please drop yours off or send us an email and we can come pick them up. We look forward to welcoming our members and tourists face-to-face after such a long time. Please stop in and say hello!

The photo above is just a mock up, but you will see something very similar take shape in the coming weeks. We're excited to jazz up the windows with our bright new graphics and create an inviting atmosphere for the community to enjoy. We will also have Maupin Merch - stickers are currently on order!
3rd Annual Maupin Holiday Bazaar

Exciting Updates from Deschutes Rim Health Clinic
Our local Deschutes Rim Health Clinic, which has been serving the rural communities of South Wasco County since 2007, is excited to announce the completion of their new building and their excellent new team of providers!

The medical team is now seeing patients in the new Building "A" and wants you to know that X-Ray services are now available! Dental services will remain in the former Building B until the Spring, when the final upgrades to their custom built facility are complete in Building A. When both teams are settled into the new space, Building B will be converted into a devoted "Health & Wellness Campus" offering amazing complementary treatments like acupuncture, chiropractic care and massage therapy! The clinic also has plans to hire a full-time community health worker (CHW) who will assist with connecting residents to housing, food, and transportation resources, among other needs.

Overseeing the clinic is Shelby Bumire, LPN who was born and raised in Maupin! The new team of providers, together with Shelby, are committed to making a difference in the lives of our community members through their compassionate and progressive medical care. The clinic looks forward to the relationships they will build with our South Wasco County residents and community members at Warm Springs.

If all this isn't enough, we need to also share that the White River Health District, the non-profit organization that runs the clinic, was awarded the Special District Association of Oregon award for 2023! We truly have an outstanding rural medical system here in Maupin.

So friends, make your appointments or just drop by to see the space, introduce yourself and meet the staff. Clinic Hours are: Mon- Fri: 8am - 5pm
There is local art on the walls and a beautiful water feature in front of the new building. And stay posted for an announcement in the Spring about a community BBQ and open house to celebrate the new clinic.

Travel Oregon is a wonderful partner of ours as a Destination Marketing Organization and they've got some great tools which have been made available to you as our members! We recently attended a webinar (highly recommend - watch the recording here) hosted by Travel Oregon about Google Business Listings and a platform called Locl that can make managing your profile more straight forward. Deschutes River Alliance announces fundraiser for new water quality monitoring station in Maupin!

If you often fish or float the lower Deschutes River, you understand the importance of knowing the river conditions before you go. Getting real-time river information can be challenging to find except at the mouth and by the dams.

In 2023, DRA wants to change that by adding a second monitoring station in Maupin and transmitting regular updates from both stations to a dashboard on our website. The monitoring stations will provide anglers and rafters with important information from a large section of the lower Deschutes River with little to no regular data updates. This information could help you better prepare your fly box and your choice of hats, shoes, or jackets.

To do this, the Deschutes River Alliance is raising $80,000 for the equipment, software, and support. In addition to real-time information, this scientific data will help us create monthly snapshots of the river and expand our comprehensive annual water quality report - the only annual report on the conditions in the lower Deschutes River.

With your support, you could improve your fishing and floating experience and help us capture, analyze and publish information to restore and protect the lower Deschutes River. Donate here.
Electric Vehicle Charging now in Maupin!
There is now an electric vehicle charging station at the Maupin City Park! This was a grant funded partnership project with the Wasco Electric Cooperative. A ribbon cutting was held on October 20th.
