gridCONNEXT 2024® was a resounding success, bringing together visionary leaders, members of Congress, officials from federal and state and state agencies, and innovators to shape the future of America’s energy grid. Held in Washington, D.C., the event focused on the theme of "Grid Evolution: Pilot to Scale" and spanned two days of thought-provoking sessions, networking opportunities, and actionable insights into the challenges and opportunities of modernizing the grid.

The GMI Readiness project seeks input from key stakeholders in the United States, including state utility regulators and staff, state energy policy makers, all electric utilities, and transmission-only entities.

MISO'S Board Approves Historic Transmission Plan

GridWise Alliance member company MISO’s MTEP24 transmission plan sets a new benchmark as the largest transmission portfolio ever undertaken in the United States. Spanning more than 5,000 miles across 15 states, this ambitious initiative includes 488 projects aimed at strengthening grid reliability and enabling the clean energy transition. Key components include local reliability upgrades, the Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) Tranche 2.1 initiatives, and collaborative Joint Targeted Interconnection Queue (JTIQ) projects with the Southwest Power Pool (SPP).

DOE Advances Projects to Boost Grid Reliability and Cut Costs

The Biden-Harris Administration has identified three potential National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors (NIETCs) advancing to the next phase of the designation process, aimed at improving grid reliability and reducing consumer costs. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking public input on its proposed engagement framework and the scope of analysis for these areas as part of its efforts to strengthen the nation’s electric grid

LPO Approves $15B Conditional Loan to PG&E for Grid Expansion

As part of the Biden-Harris Administration's Investing in America agenda, the Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office announced a conditional $15 billion loan guarantee for Pacific Gas & Electric Company's (PG&E) Project Polaris.


This initiative aims to expand hydropower, boost battery storage, upgrade transmission capacity, and implement virtual power plants across Northern and Central California. These investments will enhance grid reliability, support growing energy demands, and reduce costs for PG&E customers.
