Can I Rent My Homestead Property?
Have you been thinking about renting your home? Before you do, please watch our educational video “Renting Your Homestead Property.” It’s full of information to help you decide and to make sure you don’t lose your tax saving benefits.
Renting your home for more than 30 days per calendar year, for two (2) consecutive years or renting it for more than 6 months in one year may cause you to lose your homestead exemption. To determine if you are renting properly, please click below!
Florida Department of Revenue
By law, Property Appraisers must submit their Name, Address, Legal (NAL) file, Sales Data File (SDF), and the Geographic Information System (GIS) shape file to the Florida Department of Revenue (FDOR) by April 1st of each year. The FDOR audits these files for accuracy and to ensure Property Appraisers comply with all laws.
Married? Divorced? Widowed?
If you got married, divorced, or are newly widowed, please contact our Office to avoid losing your homestead exemption. To see full handout click below.
