APRIL 2024

CELEBRATE #FOODWASTEPREVENTIONWEEK!

Don't let that food get funky, keep it fresh and celebrate #FoodWastePreventionWeek with us April 1-7.

In the United States, approximately one-third of all food goes to waste. Every year, Americans lose more than $218 billion on wasted food. It is important to begin reducing food waste by adding in small, powerful actions to your daily routine, establishing these actions as habits, and sharing out tips and resources with friends and family. Can't make one of our events during Food Waste Prevention Week? Find free resources and tips on our website.

Establish An "Eat This First" section in your refrigerator to create and plan meals around what you already have and save money by not letting anything go to waste! Use this sign in your fridge to delegate a section to food that needs to be eaten soon.

Properly storing produce makes groceries last longer saving you money on food each month! Try these tips at home and see a difference in your grocery bill. Place this sign on your fridge as a reminder when you are putting away groceries.

Reduce

The most effective way to conserve resources and avoid pollution is to use what you have instead of buying new - like making your own non-toxic cleaner using common household ingredients! Try one of these recipes at home.

Reuse

Bring your own food ware when eating out and choose refillable options or buying in bulk when it comes to home and bath products. Explore the LB Reuses interactive map to find reusable-friendly businesses.

Recyclables should be empty, clean, and dry. Attend the next Recycle Right workshop to learn what goes in your bin, Saturday April 6 from 10-11 am.
