Hello Long Beach State!

As the spookiest month of the year comes to a close, we still have plenty of spooktacular events for you to attend. First, you will not want to miss the Student Recreation and Wellness Center’s (SRWC) Trunk or Treat event, Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. Stop by the Aquatic Center for a night of food, fun, karaoke and more!

To round out our Halloween festivities, I am thrilled to announce that Smorgasport is BACK! That’s right. We have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that we chose the best date to bring back our annual, on-campus carnival experience, and we have found it. Make sure to join us at Smorgasport, Friday Oct. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. Also, we are trying something new this year. All students who attend Smorgasport will need to sign a waiver before entering the event. We have made this process simple, quick and easy for you, by loading the waiver onto your Single Sign-On system. Check the events page for more information on how to access and sign the waiver!

Also, next week, Oct. 24 through 28, is CalFresh Outreach Week. CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families in buying the food they need. Join the Beach CalFresh Outreach Team for a week of fun activities and support! To learn more and register for events, check out the CalFresh events page.

As October ends, we are quickly finding ourselves amid election season, and I would like to encourage you all to register to vote. If you are registered, or are unsure of your voter status, you can follow this link to check. Our campus is participating in this year’s California University and College Ballot Bowl—a friendly competition to increase voter registration. Currently, we are eighth in the competition, so let’s get out there and register! For more information, visit csulb.edu/vote.

Finally, make sure you stay connected to our Calendar. Even though the semester is starting to wind down, we still have plenty of amazing events that you will not want to miss! Be on the lookout for our Día de los Muertos celebration, various events celebrating Native American Heritage Month, and more festive holiday celebrations!

As always, Go Beach!
