Botanical of the Year: Hawthorn Solid Extract™
We are thrilled that our Hawthorn Solid Extract™ was picked the WINNER in the Botanical Products of the Year category for the prestigious NutraIngredients-USA awards.
Last newsletter we reported that our Hawthorn Solid Extract was one of the three finalists. Highly qualified independent judges evaluated the nominations and WE WON!
Our line of adaptogens won this award several years ago, so we thought it too much to hope for, but WE WON!
Stephen Daniells, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of NutraIngredients-USA, commented: “The judges praised the solid dosage form of this year’s winner, which is poised to benefit from a rising recent tide of research into the benefits of polyphenols and flavonoids in cardiovascular health, neurodegenerative support and other indications.”
Update on move to new facility
We are making excellent progress on getting our new, larger facility ready for us, and we’re both exhausted and excited. The move itself will briefly impact ordering and fulfillment, so both we and our customers need to plan ahead to minimize disruption.

Here’s what is going to happen:

  • All of our customers will get a letter on exact dates we will both stop and resume shipping product. Please plan ahead so you have what you need in advance.
  • Although we don't have an exact date, we are organizing for the move. Look for a moving sale soon!
  • Some sizes will be out of stock during the transition, and only shelf stock will be available. So stock up now

Thank you in advance for your patience while we go through this transition. We’re excited to have this expanded capacity, especially for solid extracts that are in such demand.
Digestive Support
As we head into the holiday season, we all know that means everyone eating too much, too often! Digestive herbs truly do make a difference. David Winston, RH(AHG) offers this comprehensive information.

David Winston’s Students: Where Are They Now?
We enjoy all our interviews with David’s former students, but this one is delightful. Linda Shanahan of Barefoot Gardens Farm is one of our bitter herbs growers. Don’t miss her description of how her herbal training informs her approach to growing herbs.
Media update
H&A CEO Beth Lambert was happy to comment for an article in Nutritional Outlook, Bullish on Botanicals, analyzing the fast-growing demand for herbal products.

After a small manufacturer received a warning letter about their production process from FDA, NutraIngredients-USA gave us the opportunity to describe the intense inspection process we use with our fresh herbs prior to extraction.

Experts Question Findings Linking Mulberry Leaf to Woman’s Death

Media reports that a woman’s unfortunate death was attributed to white mulberry leaf by a coroner left herbalists and the entire herbal products industry in disbelief. David gave WholeFoods magazine a succinct yet comprehensive explanation why.
