JUN MABANO, A DISCIPLE MAKER
Greetings!

In 2020, we embarked on our DOUBLE IT Campaign with the vision to double the number of trained leaders from 10,000 to 20,000. With your faithful giving and God’s blessing, CCI has equipped 17,515 trained leaders to tend to the harvest. We are encouraged by this growth and excited about how the Lord will use these trained leaders to further His kingdom.

CCI’s multiplication strategy stems from 2 Timothy 2:1-2, which focuses on disciples making disciples in Christlikeness. I would like to introduce you to one of our trained leaders, Jun Mabano, Regional Coordinator for Mindanao, Philippines. Since becoming a coordinator in 2012, 601 students in 76 classes have graduated. Pastor Mabano has personally trained 91 pastors and leaders, 15 of whom are now teaching CCI classes. Currently, he oversees 899 students in 78 classes. Altogether, that’s 1,500 pastors and church leaders in 154 classes!
While Jun Mabano’s statistics over the past decade are impressive, I’d like to share some of the inner workings of how our great God led Jun to the CCI ministry and highlight his discipleship relationships.

Jun Mabano dropped out of seminary due to his growing family. Having to move back home to Iligan City, he took a job at a local factory. At about the same time, Pastor Rico Marquez at Metropolitan Heritage Baptist Church (MHBC) started a CCI class. At MHBC, Pastor Rico equipped Jun for ministry. Rico Marquez, now a pastor in San Francisco, USA, was equipped by the former CCI Mindanao Regional Coordinator, Jun Tabada. In 2000, I equipped and discipled Jun Tabada for CCI ministry. While some might argue this was a coincidence, we know that all of this was pre-ordained by our Almighty God.
Jun Mabano has overseen the training of hundreds of pastors and church leaders. In order to train one of his students, Rey Icgol, Jun traveled four hours by bus. Now that’s commitment! Rey Icgol, a housing developer and disciple of Jun Mabano, became a CCI trainer and has planted 21 churches with his team at Believers of King Jesus Christ (BKJC) since graduating in 2016. One of Rey’s students, Benjie Mabaga, is also a graduate and trainer, making his students the 7th generation of CCI classes. Rey, Benjie, and the team at BKJC have baptized more than 600 people. All glory to God!

Pastor Mabano’s laboring for the Lord is the very heartbeat of CCI. When he accepted his position as the Regional Coordinator for Mindanao, he said, “I thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to be involved in training and equipping for the rest of my life.”

Through our coordinators like Jun Mabano, the CCI ministry expands, producing godly disciple makers. CCI is more than comprehensive Bible training. Knowledge is useless, unless it is put into practice. We focus on relationship building between the teacher and the students and, most importantly, a relationship with our Lord and Savior.

Your partnership helps equip leaders like Jun Mabano, Rey Igcol, and Benjie Mabaga, who make disciples who will then make more disciples, and so on. Our goal at CCI is to equip national pastors and church leaders with the biblical knowledge and ministry skills to become participants in the Great Commission

Jun’s journey is only one example of CCI’s impact. By God’s grace, we are conducting ministry on six continents, 34 nations, and reaching 130 people groups. Will you make a monthly commitment or generous one-time investment to support coordinators like Jun Mabano and the administrative staff it takes to carry out the work by giving to our DOUBLE IT Campaign
Through a matching gift of $60,000 from special friends of the ministry, every donation to our DOUBLE IT Campaign will be doubled up to $60,000 until matched or through December 31st.

The matching gift is for the DOUBLE IT Campaign, which helps to oversee and run the entire ministry. However, it can also be used toward a missionary, coordinator, or project as their/the need arises at the discretion of the CCI leadership.

As we approach Christmas, please prayerfully consider investing in God’s work through CCI. We know that our Father desires that all would come to know about salvation in Jesus Christ and to love and serve Him.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.

Grace and Peace,
David Nelson
