Greetings!

Happy 2023! As we begin an exciting new year, we are reflecting on all that United Way St. Croix Valley was able to accomplish last year with the generous support of donors and volunteers throughout the St. Croix Valley region.

In 2022, your support of UWSCV allowed us to:
  • Help more than 2,100 callers get connected and get help through 211 St. Croix Valley
  • Provide financial assistance to 40 households through the John Coughlin Hope Fund
  • Increase mental health literacy and decrease stigma by training more than 165 individuals in Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid
  • Provide a consistent and adequate supply of diapers to 30 children in Polk County
  • Introduce literacy and the great outdoors to more than 50 families in the St. Croix Valley region through Walk, Roll and Read

Your contribution is a direct investment in the well-being and quality of life that every Western Wisconsin family deserves. Together, we have entered 2023 prepared to do our part to provide financial stability and upward mobility for individuals and families living in or near poverty and striving for a brighter future.

With warm gratitude,

United Way St. Croix Valley Team
United Way in ACTION!
Congratulations to this group of newly-certified Youth Mental Health First Aiders! It was great to be back in person for this course for Elmwood School District staff taught by our Community Impact Director, Alyson Sauter and YMCA in Hudson Youth Development Program Manager Cassie McGuire.

Follow us on Facebook or LinkedIn for upcoming Mental Health First Aid courses!
Thanks to a partnership between United Way and Bremer Bank, families in Amery and New Richmond who are transitioning from homelessness to secure, permanent housing received a Welcome Home kit in November filled with household essentials. Kits were donated to Salvation Army Grace Place and Northwoods Homeless Shelter.

Thank you, Bremer Bank, for your support of our neighbors in need! United we WIN!
ALICE & Poverty Simulation Event
United Way St. Croix Valley is thrilled to partner with University of Wisconsin - River Falls, Our Neighbors Place, and the Pierce County Huger Prevention Council to host a Poverty Simulation event on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 1-4 PM on the UWRF Campus.

ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed, is a population of people who work hard, and earn above the federal poverty level, but not enough to afford a basic household budget.

This event, which includes a presentation on ALICE data from UWSCV, serves as a reminder that financial hardships do not necessarily occur as a result of bad financial decision making, and will help better define the types of decisions ALICE families and individuals are faced with on a regular basis.

Everyone is invited to attend this free event, hosted on the UWRF Campus in the University Center Ballroom. Registration is required.
