This past weekend was the graduation for the Class of 2024. We were pleased to welcome Alum Tom Mansour ('04) as our graduation speaker this year.
Tom works at Meta as a Product Integrity Program Manager after having served in the Coast Guard for 10 years and as a Coast Guard Congressional Fellow for 2 years. Tom is expecting his first child (congratulations!) and this has brought him new insight about - and appreciation for - the education he received at WWS.

Celebrating Our Alums at the
June 1, 2024 Reunion
| |
From Stephanie Hanson, Director of Development and Alum Relations
On Saturday, June 1, we were so pleased to be able to host our School's first official Alum Reunion. We welcomed graduates from the 8th grade class of 1983 (the year we moved to Sanagamore Road, dreaming of a high school) all the way through the Class of 2018.
Thank you to Tom Mansour ('04), for initiating the event, and Happy 20th Reunion to the Class of 2004! We also extend our thanks to all Faculty and former Faculty who attended. Special thanks to Barb Bancroft (High School Art Teacher) for organizing an art activity for attendees, Mitch Fanning and the Irish Inn Mates for the music, and Chef Eron and Sarah Heirman ('97) with Foxhall Catering for providing the food. We really enjoyed hosting the alums, and send our thanks to all those who attended.

From the Parent/Family Organization | |
Participate in the Parent/Family Organization!
The Parent Leadership Group (PLG) is seeking members for the 2024-2025 school year! Joining the PLG gives you an inside view of what's happening at school and the chance to make friends, connect with faculty, and demonstrate to your children your dedication to their school!
We have added structure with defined roles that range in commitment from leading a specific event (Fall Bazaar, Craft & Conversation, Gala, Grandparents Day, etc.) to more involvement as part of the executive team (Community Events Chair, Chairs representing CG/LS/HS, etc.).
Learn more about the roles and/or volunteer for a position.
Email plg@washingtonwaldorf.org with questions.

He is due to arrive in the US in July 2024. I’m looking for affordable housing near AU (WWS area, Chevy Chase, Tenleytown…). A small furnished apartment/room is ideal. His program is for 2 years.

Report on Young People and Social Media
From Jess Gottlieb, WWS Faculty
Common Sense and Hopelab, have released the third report in a series that has been tracking the role of social media in how young people age 14–22 support their mental health and well-being. The report reinforces that many young people turn to social media for emotional support, connection to friends and family, community building, and for fun.
But at the same time, they experience stressful content—like harassment and hate speech—and must actively take steps to manage their exposure to it, like curating their social media feeds to see more of what helps and less of what doesn't.
