2024 has been a challenging year for many organisations, but hiring impactful talent remains a key priority for business leaders. Competition for top talent continues to be high across the C-suite, although we've seen a particular increase in demand for engineering and product leadership roles over the past two quarters, aligning with broader market trends.
The conversation around compensation continues to evolve. Whilst we've seen overall compensation soften slightly, base salaries continue to rise. This has been due partly to ongoing uncertainty surrounding capital gains tax and the budget, coupled with the lack of exits over the past year. As a result, individuals are placing less value on share options than previously. It will be interesting to see whether this trend persists in 2025 or if, with the potential for a more buoyant economy, we see a different balance.
We’d like to thank Andy Swarbrick, who retired as Chair of Bailey Fisher earlier this year, after 10 years’ service, and to welcome Ludo Chapman as our new Chair. Under Ludo’s guidance, we look forward to continuing to support our clients with their growth journeys. See here for some of the work we've completed recently, or please get in touch if you’d like to discuss your next senior hire.
