EPISODE 3 | YOU'RE INVESTING IN THEM,
THEY'RE INVESTING IN YOU
FEATURING CATRINA JEFFERSON & BRODY HUDSON

Most of us has had an internship, but whether or not we’ve had a good one may be debatable. When internships are done right, they can be very valuable--both as recruitment and training tools for businesses and as job pathways for interns. We sat down with with CSC’s Catrina Jefferson, who helped build and launch Intern Delaware, and Brody Hudson—an intern turned full-time accountant with Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, CPAs.

Next Level Internships
Young professionals are looking for more than just work experience when selecting their internships, which ultimately contributes to their decision on where to launch their careers and build a life post-graduation. Internships offer the invaluable opportunity for both the employer and intern to take a ‘test drive’ and see if they are a good match. In today’s tight labor market, it’s a highly effective strategy for employers to identify talent and increase hiring conversion rates. With 70 percent of Delaware companies offering summer internship programs, the state has a huge opportunity to attract and retain emerging talent. Read more >
"There are not many programs that put this much time and effort
into giving interns such
a valuable opportunity,
but [Intern Delaware] has gone above and beyond
the expectations. I will
be recommending this program to anyone I
know interning in
Delaware. It has made
my internship unforgettable!”

“Intern Delaware gave me opportunities to meet
professionals alongside other interns throughout the state who have internships in different companies. I love how in Delaware—as a small
state—we have so much opportunity to succeed
with professionals who are willing to take time out of their day and talk to the young interns.”

DEVELOPING DELAWARE
OCTOBER 13 | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

In 2018 at the inaugural Developing Delaware event, Governor Carney sat down with site selectors to hear how Delaware compares to others in the region. The thought-provoking conversation sparked ideas and energy around strategies to make the First State more competitive—this included the development of the Ready in 6 initiative. It's been four years and we are bringing back the same site selectors to once again sit down with the Governor. Have we made progress? Register to find out >

President's Message
The pandemic raised the profile of the acronym WFH (work from home) to breakthrough levels. Today, however, WFH has another meaning that is touching us all: wages, food, and housing. While the Fed has raised interest rates to dampen inflation, these three important segments of our economy remain a worry for policymakers. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR MEMBERSHIP:
Over the last few years, we have updated and modernized functional areas of our operations. The next planned change is to transition our membership dues billing cycles to a calendar-year cycle.

In order to complete this transition, you will be invoiced a one-time prorated membership dues amount which will ‘pay you up’ through 12/31/23. Please be on the lookout for your prorated invoice. You should receive it via email no later than November 15th. Members already on January billing cycles will not see any changes or prorated bills. Moving forward, members will be billed your annual membership dues in mid-November for a January 1st effective date.

These changes will enable us to be more efficient and bring added focus to the delivery of great events, communications efforts, and policy advocacy to Delaware's business community. Please contact Melissa Brayman at mbrayman@dscc.com with any questions. Thank you for your continued support!
