Dear Daniel,

Medicine!

The clinic in Cap-Haitien has needed a resupply of medicine for a long time. The photo shows a table full of prescription medicine from a mobile clinic we did some time ago. This is the level of inventory we like the clinic to have, but it's not been possible recently. Because of the gang troubles, medicine is difficult to find locally, and we've been reluctant to ship supply from the U.S. until now.

It's On the Ship Now

We consulted with the shipping company we use in Miami, and they gave us confidence they will be able to deliver directly by way of the port in Cap-Haitien. While the port in Port-au-Prince has been closed, Cap-Haitien has remained open and the shipping company has not seen much in the way of trouble. We purchased a good supply of medications from the charity Blessings International, and they delivered directly to the port in Miami. From there, it shipped to Haiti and is at sea now. Please join us in prayer that it will be imported securely and delivered to the clinic quickly. Safe arrival will be a blessing to patients and staff alike.

Here's the Latest on Security

Gangs continue to rule the roost in Port-au-Prince and nearby areas, even as the Multinational Security Support Mission is gathering steam. The mission is led by Kenya with commitments to provide soldiers from some of Haiti's neighbors as well. The U.S. has supplied $60M in armaments including Humvees, armored personnel carriers, drones, and weapons, but is not providing troops other than to secure the port, the airport, and to construct a camp for other soldiers. It now appears soldiers from the mission itself may be on the ground by the middle of June, or possibly a little later.

Please continue to pray that order will be restored quickly and the gangs can be stamped out. It's a big job, but God is able. Also pray that peace will continue to reign in the north of the country where the clinic and our friends reside.

Blessings to all,
Dan Merrefield
