This family room had 16' ceilings and a large flat wall that felt unfinished.

AFTER

Obviously bringing in some visual height is the key. I was able to show an image to the owners that convey how they could bring some height into the room. This made the large space feel cozier and more grand at the same time.

• Adding curtains to the side of the french doors and hanging them about 4' taller than the door adds some height to that wall.
• I also added a woven shade that ties into the color of the fireplace but also fills the gap between the top of the door and the curtain rod to simulate a transom.
• By using wood trim and a deep navy paint color, a large accent wall can be created in the area between the two doorways.
• And as always, really large art finishes the space.
• The lamps were already in place but just a reminder that lamps are a key element to bringing light down to eye level instead of using just the lighting on the ceiling.

Color Consultation - Some people need help picking colors for their spaces. Choosing the paint color can be challenging. If you are leaving the trim and/or cabinet color, choosing the right color to coordinate with it is even more important.
