Press Release- BIG BUGS! Coming to Peoria Zoo!

June 1- July 28 at Peoria Zoo

PEORIA (May 30, 2024) – The Peoria Park District is proud to announce a new traveling exhibit coming to Peoria Zoo June 1 through July 28, 2024: BIG BUGS! Prepare to be mesmerized by the colossal creatures that once ruled the Earth, now brought back to life in stunning larger-than-life animatronic detail.

We are inviting our media partners to come get a first look of the event during our PPD Friends and Family night, Friday, May 31st from 5 - 8pm. If you will be attending, please e-mail advancement@peoriaparks.org.

"In addition to coming eye-to-eye with the giraffe or hearing the roar of a tiger, we are excited to bring some more excitement to the Zoo this summer with BIG BUGS! our traveling exhibit," stated Emily Cahill, Peoria Park District Executive Director. "Within BIG BUGS!, guests will encounter thirteen bug behemoths, including a praying mantis, ladybug, bee, moth and more that feature animatronic elements designed to amaze!"

The exhibit aims to provide an educational and fun experience, highlighting the intricate details and movements of these colossal creatures.
