A Message from our VP of Student Life and Mission | |
Dear Carondelet Community,
I hope that you enjoyed time with family and friends this past week. As we return from the Thanksgiving holiday, we start to turn our attention to the end of the fall semester. It’s hard to believe that we have only two weeks left of school before finals week. As we all make this final push to the end of the semester, focusing on sleep, exercise, nourishing foods, reflection on our blessings, and good communication are all essential to staying healthy and centered during a busy season.
Here are a couple of events and schedules that I want to share with you as we begin the week. Tuesday evening from 5-9 PM, we are holding our Visions Sip and Tree Holiday Market. It’s a fun event where one will enjoy light refreshments, see this year’s Trees, and shop local pop-up shops. It’s an event that will get people in the holiday spirit! Details on the event and how to buy a ticket can be found here. This Wednesday morning, students can sleep in a little as we have a late start, period 4 beginning at 9:30 AM. Please note the week’s school schedule outlined later in this newsletter to see this late start Wednesday and Fridays X block schedule. Lastly, this Saturday, the Fathers Club is hosting a Father/Daughter Dance in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. The event is from 6-9 PM and is a wonderful time for our students to dance and create memories with their dads. If you want more information, you can find it here.
I also want to highlight this year’s Advent Service Project organized by Campus Ministry and the Spiritual Life Council. This year the theme is “Three Kings, Three Books” which shares about how the three kings brought gifts to baby Jesus. Through the story of the birth of Jesus, a new chapter into our lives was opened up. This year, we are partnering with the Children’s Book Project, an organization that focuses on bringing books to children and teens to create equity in literacy, learning, and life. In addition to educating our school community on the importance of equitable access to literature and literacy skills, we are holding a book donation drive for The Children’s Book Project and Monument Crisis Center! More information on the project and how to donate will be in Campus Ministry’s Advent communication later this week.
Blessings,
Jennifer Reinwald
Vice Principal of Student Life and Mission

Attendance Reminders
For any absence, tardy, or early out, please contact the Attendance Office before 10:00 AM. We understand that last-minute appointments or emergencies do occur, however, early communication is the best way to ensure that we can dismiss your student on time.
We are continuing to see a rise in cold and flu-like symptoms on campus. If your student is feeling unwell, please keep them home and report their absence to the Attendance Office. Masks are optional for all students and are available in the Main Office.

Stanford MUN Conference
Carondelet students attended the Model United Nations Conference at Stanford University on Veterans Day weekend. This conference attracts high school students nationwide to participate in a simulation of the actual United Nations. Carondelet students stepped into the shoes of ambassadors from member states to resolve global issues through debate and negotiation. They spent the weekend practicing public speaking and collaborative problem-solving skills while meeting other motivated high school students from across the nation.
Abigail S. ‘23 reflected on her experience at Stanford: “Stanford Model United Nations was an extremely valuable experience in collaborating with other passionate youth to discuss real world issues. I am looking forward to our next conference!”

Uniform Updates
As the cold weather sets in, we are now allowing solid-colored outerwear jackets, coats or vests to be worn over Carondelet/De La Salle sweatshirts. This change is to ensure that students are warm enough on campus and during passing periods. Please note that flannels and non-Carondelet/De La Salle sweatshirts/fleeces are not permitted. Additionally, solid-colored tights and leggings can be worn under skirts. Sweatpants and pajamas are not permitted. We encourage students to layer up and dress for the weather.
To clarify, slippers are not allowed even if they are close-toed and/or have backs on them. Our uniform guidelines specifically state "no slippers allowed." However, Ugg-style boots and other winter boots are permitted on campus.
