Daytime and nighttime activities will continue through the end of the year.

• Electrical work along northbound and southbound SR-55. View lane and ramp closures on the "Closures and Detours Map."
• Retaining wall construction on Pullman Street between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

WHAT: Crews will restripe a portion of Cowan between Main Street and MacArthur Boulevard to accommodate the construction of a retaining wall. Cowan will remain open during this time. Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists as traffic is shifted east, away from the freeway.

WHEN: Restriping is tentatively scheduled from 10 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Contractors will be constructing the columns and abutments for the Edinger Avenue bridge widening. To facilitate this work, the inside lanes on Edinger Avenue between Newport Avenue and Auto Mall Drive are closed in both directions through December 2023. The two outside lanes will remain open to traffic.

In addition, crews are expected to place temporary concrete barriers on Edinger Avenue between Newport Avenue and Auto Mall Drive. Edinger Avenue will remain open during this work.

In observance of the Christmas and New Years holidays, there will be no construction activities Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Dec. 30 through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.

Construction alerts will resume the first week of January 2023.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
