Prayers of the People

The Rev. Sherri Wood-Powe, lower left, celebrates the installation of a new food cupboard at Oak Chapel UMC in Silver Spring on May 18. Over the past five years, the 30-member congregation has grown to be one of the leading groups in Montgomery County addressing food insecurity.

Bel Air UMC played a pivotal role in the dedication of a new medical clinic in Munyarari, Zimbabwe. Twenty years ago, the church started the Chabaza-Healing Hands Across Zimbabwe Mission outreach to raise money to build a medical clinic. On Feb. 24, 2024, Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa dedicated the clinic. Three people from the church attended the ceremony: the Rev. Byron E. Brought, Jim Piccione, and Dave Talbot, the Munyarai Team Leader. See the story from UMNS.

Annual Conference is May 29-31. We invite you to begin praying for the upcoming Session as we focus together on Romans 12:1, 9-12.
