WSAE Spring Outing

So much more than golf
Spring Outing has education, networking, service
The WSAE Spring Outing has always been a great event for connecting with association peers, whether on or off the course. With expanded educational programs and an added outreach project, this event is about way more than just golf. Hosted by Geneva National Golf Club and The Ridge, the 2017 WSAE Spring Outing, May 22 - 23, boasts three dynamic educational sessions with CAE credits, a Participants & Pairings Party, golf (of course), a community service project and Awards Reception.

Board retreat to plan initiatives for 2017 and beyond

The WSAE board of directors held their annual planning retreat at The Charmant Hotel in La Crosse on March 7-8. The planning session kicked off with a facilitated discussion on future ideas for the association led by Dean Archer, CMP, of Dean H Archer Associates. The co-chairs of WSAE's Young Professionals Task Force, Aaron Manogue of Omnipress and Emily Viles of AMPED Association Management, attended the retreat and gave the board an update on task force activities as well as feedback on what the young professional members are asking from their WSAE membership.  Special thanks to Dana Ecker of the La Crosse Area CVB and to The Charmant Hotel for their efforts in arranging for and hosting the retreat.

Association website accessibility

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that places of public accommodation be accessible to persons with disabilities. The U.S. Department of Justice has taken the position that websites open to the public must also be accessible to persons with sight or hearing impairment. This interpretation may affect our members' websites, and also those of our associations themselves. What, if anything, are you all doing about this?

Membership model expansion
We are exploring the idea of expanding membership and looking at other membership models. Is your membership model a multi-level model? Are you willing to share?

iMIS member database training
I am new to using iMIS and I am looking for more training for the way our nonprofit is set up. Does anyone have ideas about where I could turn to either pay for training one-on-one or register for the best class suitable for our association?

Looking for feedback on e-newsletter ads
We are thinking of soliciting sponsors for our email newsletters. Do any of you include banner ads in your list of advertising opportunities and how much do you charge?

AMPED Association Management opens second office in Washington, DC
WSAE's management company, AMPED Association Management, has announced the official opening of its metro Washington, DC office in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The DC office is an extension of AMPED's headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin, and will serve to benefit AMPED association clients with staff support, meetings and advocacy interests in and around the DC area. "Our strength is in our culture and we have been very deliberate in extending that culture to our DC office, fully integrating our staff in both locations into all of our systems and providing the same amenities such as standing desks" said Lynda J. Patterson, FASAE, CAE owner and president. "Everyone is totally plugged in. All of our systems are already cloud-based and work very well with several of our staff members who work remotely across the country."

Patterson and her team see great value in growing a presence in the Nation's Capital and the opportunities that that presents within the association profession. "Washington DC is home to thousands of trade and professional associations, so it's only natural that we expand there. We're excited to be able to tap into all our DC connections, identifying staff who fit our culture and who can serve our current and future client needs. Our growth in the region will be talent-driven, not client-specific."
