This week, we celebrated #AccessibilityAwarenessDay, a reminder of the importance of creating an inclusive world for everyone. 🌍💙

Accessibility isn't just about physical spaces—it's about digital spaces too! Whether it's captioning videos, using alt text for images, or ensuring accessible spaces are clear, every small step counts. 💻📱

Let's work together to break down barriers and build a world where everyone can participate fully and equally.

The Idaho Department of Education Wants Your Feedback!

Hello Idaho families, our partners at the Idaho Department of Education are looking for your feedback!

Specifically, your feedback on the proposed changes to the Specific Learning Disability Criteria in the Idaho Special Education Manual.

Please visit this link to learn more - https://www.sde.idaho.gov/sped/index.html

Idaho Special Education Manual Proposed Specific Learning Disability Criteria

The Idaho Special Education Manual is a part of the Idaho Administrative Procedures Act. This is to enforce and monitor the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the public school system. The Idaho Special Education Manual has been revised to ensure compliance with the IDEA provisions for the eligibility category of Specific Learning Disability (SLD). Before any policies or procedures can be adopted or changed, the Idaho Department of Education must ensure the opportunity for public participation in the process.

CFR 34 §300.165 Public Participation

Prior to the adoption of any policies and procedures needed to comply with Part B of the Act (including any amendments to those policies and procedures), the State must ensure that there are public hearings, adequate notice of the hearings, and an opportunity for comment available to the general public, including individuals with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities. Before submitting a State plan under this part, a State must comply with the public participation requirements in paragraph (a) of this section and those in 20 U.S.C. 1232d(b)(7).

Written comments may be submitted directly by using the Public Comment Form. Comments will be accepted until July 23, 2024.
