New $9 Million Creative Futures Program Opens
Creative Futures Grants, with $9 million in funding from Vermont’s last legislative session, opened to applications on Thursday, Sept. 15, to help the creative sector recover from economic losses due to the pandemic.

Grants of up to $200,000 are available to creative sector non-profits and for-profit entities, including sole proprietors, that have sustained substantial losses from the pandemic.

The program will be open for three rounds. The first application deadline is Nov. 1, 2022, with subsequent deadlines in February and June of 2023.

October is National Arts & Humanities Month 2022
On the eve of National Arts & Humanities Month, President Joseph R. Biden issued an “Executive Order on Promoting the Arts, the Humanities, and Museum and Library Services” that includes re-establishing the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities to inform and support the national engagement with Americans necessary to advance the arts, the humanities, and museum and library services. Read the full executive order on the White House website.

For the second year in a row, President Biden also issued an official proclamation from the White House declaring October as National Arts & Humanities Month. In the proclamation, President Biden says: “For centuries, American arts and humanities have been a beacon of light and understanding, recording our history and advancing new ways of thinking. This National Arts and Humanities Month, we celebrate our Nation’s visionary artists, scholars, and creators whose work touches and reveals the soul of America.” Read the full proclamation on the White House website.
New CreativeGround
The new and improved CreativeGround.org has launched. CreativeGround is New England's community-generated, free, online arts and culture directory that provides visibility, connection, and information to support a region-wide creative network.

Both a database and directory, the user-generated and maintained profiles on CreativeGround provide a real-time picture of the creative people and places at work in the six New England states. The platform enables the people of the creative community to share who they are, what they do, and what they contribute. The site remains the only searchable creative economy research database/asset map in the U.S. that is updated directly by the community.

The Vermont Arts Council is funded, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which requires a 1:1 match from the Vermont State Legislature. Council grants, programs, and statewide arts promotion would not be possible without the critical funding provided by these government agencies.
