DECEMBER 7, 2022 IS
PARKVIEW COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION IN-SERVICE DAY

On December 7, 2022 we will be closed for regular business for a Parkview Community Federal Credit Union In-Service Day. What is a Parkview Community Federal Credit Union In-Service Day you ask? That's a great question! It is similar to the in-service days that most schools observe where the students are not required to attend school that day but the teachers are. It provides the teachers time to catch up on work they haven't been able to and to plan future lessons. Our in-service day will be somewhat similar except instead of school being closed to the students for teaching, the credit union will be closed to the members for banking.

You may be asking - Why does the credit union need an in-service day? That's also a great question! The credit union is using this day to 'catch up' on work that we've had put to the side this past year and a half. DON'T PANIC - it's not work that in any way affects your account(s) or the safety and soundness of the credit union! As a matter of fact, we were just examined by our federal regulator the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the operations of the credit union are so good that we received the highest rating that can be received in an examination - YAY!! The work that we need to catch up on are things like filing (lots and lots of filing), systems' upgrades, file maintenance, inventory reconciliation, staff training on emerging products and ever-evolving industry risks, and more.

Before the pandemic, we were always able to keep up with these tasks, however, this hasn't been the case over the past year. Why? Well, like most businesses, our staff has been reduced by a third and no matter what we've done to replace the staff we lost, we haven't been able to gain the employees necessary to maintain the workflow that we had before COVID. Unlike most businesses, we haven't had to close our doors to our members because our staff has been able to adjust to the shortages and still accommodate our members with business as usual. We worked so hard to ensure that our members continue to receive the service that they've grown accustom to over the past 87 years - even with a third less staff. But this meant that we had to choose between providing premiere banking service to our members or completing the above-mentioned tasks and of course, service won hands down!

We wanted to let you know about this in-service day well in advance so you can plan your banking accordingly. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please call 412-678-9564 ext. 131 to speak with Compliance Specialist Lechelle Stringa. Thank you in advance for your continued loyalty and your understanding during this time.
