Be a Part of Commencement 2023! Volunteer to be a Marshal or March with Your Department

Our 2023 Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies are fast approaching! Please support our dedicated students by being part of the celebration at Queens College's Ninety-Ninth Commencement. Your participation is critical in making these activities possible, and your support and dedication will ensure these significant events are memorable and enjoyable.

You can participate by serving as a marshal at the events or marching with your academic department. Details about how to participate and to order your regalia are below.

Marshals

Faculty and staff marshals are instrumental at both the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. The Baccalaureate Convocation will be held on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 pm, and Commencement will take place on Thursday, June 1 at 9 am.

All marshals are required to attend the Marshals' Reception on May 8, at which time we will review procedures for both events. Invitations are forthcoming.

To volunteer as a marshal, please notify the Commencement Office at marshals@qc.cuny.edu by April 20.

Faculty Marching with Departments

Faculty from all academic department should have representation at both the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. These are important milestones for our students, so we ask for your help in ensuring faculty attendance at these events.

Regalia Ordering

Faculty who serve as marshals or march with their department need to wear academic regalia.

The Commencement Office will cover the cost of regalia rental. If you've ordered regalia with us before and do not require any changes, your information will be retrieved automatically, and your regalia will be ordered. Everyone must RSVP to confirm your attendance for Commencement 2023.

Please read the following carefully:

· If you’ve ordered regalia with us before and there’s been a change, you must email sylvia.hernandez@qc.cuny.edu indicating your full name, height, weight, and cap size by close of business on April 20.

· If you’re a new faculty/staff member (hired in 2020 or after), you must email s ylvia.hernandez@qc.cuny.edu indicating your full name, height, weight, cap size, field of degree, and institution where degree was earned by close of business on April 20.

The deadline for regalia ordering is April 20.

Regalia Distribution (Pick-up)

You must arrange to retrieve your regalia order. A schedule indicating the days and times when distribution takes place will be shared as time gets closer.

Special Note: Faculty/staff members from Linguistics & Communication Disorders (LCD), Educational & Community Programs (ECP), Secondary Education & Youth Services (SEYS), and Elementary & Early Childhood Education (EECE) who choose to participate in pre-Commencement celebrations must submit their regalia orders through their respective departments.
