Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County Host Annual Auction and Gala

Bellingham, WA—The Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County is hosting their annual Inspire Higher Dreams Gala & Auction, presented by bp Cherry Point Refinery. The event will take place at 5:00 p.m. on April 28, 2023 at the Event Center at Silver Reef Casino Resort. This event is made possible by the generosity of the Silver Reef Casino Resort and the Lummi Nation.

Guests will enjoy a red-carpet entrance, surf & turf plated dinner, silent and live auction, and dessert dash. The Gala is a formal event and formal attire is encouraged.

“Last year, the virtual gala raised more than $373,000 to support the academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character programs at the Clubs. Funds raised at this event are critical in helping us accomplish our mission. We could not continue to do whatever it takes without the support of our community”, Heather Powell, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County said.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County was founded in 1946 with the mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Our Clubs and licensed care centers serve kids from infancy through age 18 county-wide in eight locations to provide essential services for the kids who need us most.

News from Whatcom County Public Works

Regarding the stop signs being installed on Birch Point Road and Birch Bay Drive

We just received the following notice from Whatcom County Public Works regarding the installation of stop signs at Birch Point Road and Birch Bay Drive.

The info sheet in the link below outlines the alternative options that were investigated as well as provides responses to specific feedback offered at the March Council meeting.

WCPW recognizes that these stop signs are not a popular resolution for this intersection, and many in Birch Bay are frustrated by this decision. However, because the Ordinance has passed Council, WCPW is not in a position to postpone their installation.
