This is a special-edition email sent to Lake Shamineau Lake Improvement District (LSLID) newsletter subscribers to provide information on the need to hire AIS Ambassadors. In the next few weeks, a newsletter with other updates will be sent to subscribers.

AIS Ambassadors Needed

Summer Employment

The Lake Shamineau LID is looking for folks who enjoy working outside!
Earn $20/hour for sitting in the shade (or sun) at the lake. As a Minnesota DNR AIS Ambassador, you will be working at a public DNR or Township Access on Lake Shamineau.

You do not need to be a resident of the lake, anyone that qualifies may apply. Additional “End of the Season Incentive Pay” may apply for hours worked if acceptable attendance of scheduled hours for the entire contract period.

Qualifying Requirements:
Must be 18 yrs. of age or older.
Attend a paid (3) hour DNR (Aquatic Invasive Species) training session conducted by a DNR Regional Watercraft Inspection Supervisor. This training is at no cost to them and is paid hourly.
Submit a completed DNR background check form.

HOURS:
Typical hours would be 4-8 hours on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. The time frame is from the Walleye opener on May 11 through Labor Day on September 2. (Flexible schedule, not every weekend or holiday may be required).

Job Description:
Greeting visitors at the public accesses on Lake Shamineau.
Informing boaters about the “Clean-Drain-Dry” program for Aquatic Invasive Species, when their watercraft are entering and exiting our lake.
Handing out relevant brochures.
Answering boater questions about the AIS program.
Documenting the number of watercraft interacted with and violations observed. (This is not an enforcement position; it is simply educational)
